Cheesy Garlic Bread – Easy Dinner Idea

Sharing is caring!

When I revealed this garlic cheesy bread to Hubby for dinner, he just about cried. Cheesy garlic bread is one of those super easy weeknight meals you need in your life.

And it was beyond delicious. Heavenly.

I saved some for me to snack on later. Can you blame me? It’s cheese and bread. It’s perfect snack fodder.

Cheesy Garlic Bread Is A Simple Dinner

The real reason I love this garlic bread recipe is because it’s a great option for pizza night. I don’t have to make pizza dough, I don’t have to shred cheese (just slice it), and it’s a great change to our routine.

All The Ingredients Are Pantry Staples

I also love that everything you need for this recipe are available right in your cabinet. Garlic powder, onion powder, olive oil, and cheese. That’s it, friend.

The onion powder is optional. I sometimes have it, and sometimes we’re out, so I never make that a requirement of our cheesy garlic bread.

How To Make Cheesy Garlic Bread

Do you really need a how-to? If so, I’ll hook you up, friend. Garlic cheesy bread is pretty simple. It’s all slice, place, baste, and bake. I like the sound of that. Ha!

Slice your Italian bread halfway lengthwise, into thirds. Don’t cut all the way through. You want the bottom half of the bread to still be intact, so it’s easy to slice pieces later.

Baste the inside of the bread slits with the olive oil mixture. Don’t use it all; you’ll want to spread some of it on the top of the bread before you bake it.

Slice up block mozzarella and cheddar cheese and place the slices in the bread. I suggest using block cheese, instead of shredded or pro-sliced cheese. The garlic cheesy bread comes out so much better with block cheese.

You can stack slices on top of one another, if need be. I like to put cheddar slices on top of mozzarella slices, and vice versa. It allows the cheese to naturally melt together. Slurp.

After baking, let your bread cool down a bit, or not. I won’t judge. Place your homemade pizza sauce, or jarred sauce, in a bowl. Slice into bites, and eat it up.

The Perfect Garlic Bread Everyone Will Love

The cheese is perfectly melted and the bread is crisp, yet soft. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this recipe. Also, the fact that it’s not really a recipe makes this lazy mom really happy.

Let’s not talk about the calories that are entwined in those slices. That’s just so unfair to my booty. Oh well…t was worth it!

Ok, let’s get down to business and reveal the full details of this easy garlic bread recipe:

Garlic Cheesy Bread

Ingredients:
1 loaf of italian bread (I used a day old loaf I got on clearance)
8 oz of cheese (I used mozzarella and cheddar above)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder

Instructions:

Set your oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the oil, garlic powder and onion powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
Slice your bread 2 times lengthwise. You want to slice it close to the bottom, but not all the way through.
Open up the sliced areas and baste the insides of the bread with the oil mixture.
Place the cheese in each of the slits.
If you have any olive oil mixture left, baste the top of the bread. This will help to make a crispy texture on top.
Cover the bread completely in foil (I used one piece for the bottom and one for the top).
Place in the oven(on a cookie sheet, if you want) and bake for 25 minutes.
After 25 minutes, open the foil and expose the top. Let it cook for 7 to 10 more minutes.
Let it cool slightly….or not. We didn’t and look what happened when we cut it:
