Always Eat Breakfast

I have this bad habit of feeding the kids a full breakfast every morning, and by 10am, I realize that I hadn’t done the same for myself. I get busy, I start cleaning or writing or working on a project, and I just forget. It’s one of “Mom” things: you tend to forego taking care of yourself for a while, until that day comes when you are told that you HAVE to take care of you. Little did I know, another very influential tweep was watching the information I was putting out into the twitterverse and wanted me to always eat breakfast.

It was just another day; I shared on twitter how I’d forgotten to eat breakfast for the umpteenth time and my friends had scolded me to get off my bum and eat. Through all of those tweets, I’d gotten one from the Got Milk People. You know, the people that put out the cool commercials; the ones that have ads in all of our favorite magazines. Yup, those milk people. @MilkMustache sent me a link of one of their latte recipes as a suggestion for a late breakfast. Did you know that a latte can have up to 11 essential vitamins in it? No wonder I love drinking them! Just to make matters even more interesting, Milk Mustache, my new best friend, offered to send me breakfast. Send ME breakfast! The next week, they did just that.

They sent a latte, a few glasses of milk(obviously), waffles, fruit, breakfast sandwiches and more. The Duchess and I had a feast that morning, and when even had enough to eat for lunch too. I immediately wished we could always eat breakfast in this manner: delivered on sliver trays and not cooked by me. The Milk people surely didn’t know, but they sent the whole meal from one of our favorite Diners here in our neighborhood. Or did they? Hmmm.

After their gesture of love (of breakfast), I made sure to check out Got Milk’s “The Breakfast Project.” They provide great breakfast ideas, and are partnering with the Play 60 campaign for Fuel Up Play 60, a project to get kids fueled up with a proper breakfast to get them moving throughout the day. When you have a minute, make sure to follow them on twitter and check out The Breakfast Project. They’ve got my support! From then on, I’ve made sure to have something for breakfast, even if it’s a quick latte or a creamy fruit smoothie.

So, here’s the big question: Do you have breakfast every morning? Have you found yourself skipping breakfast because of lack of time?

Disclosure: This post is in no way sponsored. I was just so taken by Got Milk’s kindness, and campaign, that I just had to share with you all.

I have breakfast every morning. Dr. Oz says you should have some sort of protein within one hour of waking — and an egg is fine. I have done that at least a few times since becoming unemployed. I used to bring oatmeal to the office and heat it up there. Without food in my belly, I can’t think. So when I am working I must have it. Now I’m in a pattern where I eat a small breakfast, walk a few miles with the dog and then have something more mid-morning.

I don’t eat first thing, but I try to have something around 10. It keeps me going until lunch :)

Breakfast is my most important meal of the day! It’s how my kids and I bond together a bit before starting our crazy lives and how I ensure that both they and I get a little protein in to last a bit before lunch.

Ha, how fun! Another reason I <3 twitter :) I always get my kids breakfast, of course, but just like you I tend to miss it… it just happens when you have kids! I’m working on it though!

Oh breakfast is the hardest meal for me. I am just like you. I get distracted and busy getting the kids ready and out the door, and I just forget far too often. I need to do better. But WOW. Your breakfast definitely looks amazing! that is really awesome of Got milk to do that for you and for all those kids!

I will catch myself feeding Michael and starting my work day before eating anything. I’ve actually scheduled my meals so I don’t forget. Hey, whatever works, right? :)

I am awful about eating breakfast! I am trying to get better about eating 6 small meals a day… but am slowly getting used to breakfast.

I do eat breakfast daily, but sometimes it’s just an ounce of mixed nuts and a decaf or half-caff coffee with some creamer. Most days, it’s coffee and yogurt. It used to be a whole-grain bread slice with a smear of natural peanut butter, sometimes with flax sprinkled on top, sometimes with a banana and/or honey. Mmmm, now I’m hungry again!

Breakfast is such an important part of the day! I have breakfast daily but I do not have kids or a husband to look after yet. I will take heed to this when that time comes.
