Graphic Sweatshirts under $25 (and how to style them)

Sharing is caring!

Not too long ago, I bought inexpensive hanes sweatshirts, two sizes too big, and cut the bottoms off to make a “fashionable” sweatshirt. Ahh the 90s were fun. So, when I read in In Style magazine that sweatshirts will be a new Fall trend, I squeed a little. When I read that there are simple ways to dress them up so you don’t look like a complete slob when out and about, I squeed a lot. I have a thing for sweaters, especially “Cosby” ones, so finding fun and chic graphic sweathirts was a challenge I fully accepted. I kept with the frugal fashion mantra and found 10 under 25 dollars. Plus, I found a pullover sweatshirt and styled it to show how you can easily dress up this trend. Here are some tips on how to take the graphic sweatshirt trend to the next level.

Graphic Sweatshirts under 25 dollars

Pair Graphic Sweatshirts with Stylish Pants

If you know what’s good for you, you’ll stay far away from pairing these with yoga pants and sneakers. You want to give off casual on top, but pulled together and awesome on the bottom. Grab you favorite pair of skinny or straight jeans, and add in a pair of pointy-toe heels, riding boots, or booties.

Top heavy? Stick with thinner fabrics

As fun and stylish these graphic sweats are, they’re still sweatshirts. For top heavy vixens, a thick fabric may make you look like a linebacker. Find a thinner material that will flatter your silhouette but keep you comfortable.

Layer your sweats with chambray

Since these have ample room in them, they are perfect for layering. You could wear your favorite tank underneath, but why not amp it up with a chambray shirt? A graphic sweatshirt in a muted color, paired with a medium wash chambray shirt and bright colored pants would be a cool outfit for running around town or lunch with friends.

Keep it loose on the bottom

Find graphic sweatshirts that are either cut shorter in the front and longer in the back, or have a looser fit around the bottom. This style is flattering for everyone and you won’t be mistaken for the crazy cat lady that wears those tight band sweats from Wally World.

Try short sleeves

I was surprised at how much I loved the short-sleeved graphic sweatshirts. They provide a great detail that is unexpected. Short sleeve graphic sweatshirts are perfect for a pre-fall style and for next spring. Fashionistas that live in warmer climates can rock the short-sleeve sweatshirts at night or on cooler days in the Fall.

Dress it up!

Yes, you can dress up a graphic sweatshirt for a date night or girls night out. Pair it with a pencil skirt or flattering shorts, and wear with stilettos or platform heels. Add a sparkly necklace, some cute earrings, and you’re good to go.

Pullover Sweatshirt Fall outfit

Here’s a quick outfit I put together with this Navy inspired pullover from She Inside. I love pairing navy blue with a light brown accessories and obviously this is reflected in the outfit.

Will you try the graphic sweatshirt trend this season?

I hear ya, Jamie. I think that’s why I gravitated to these; they made with a sweatshirt material, but are so chic, that you can wear them in a chic outfit and no one will be the wiser.
