Brats Benedict – A twist on Father’s Day Breakfast

Sharing is caring!

Brats Benedict6

I just love Father’s Day breakfast, and this Brats Benedict recipe shows how much I love it.

Maybe it’s because I’m a daddy’s girl, or maybe it’s the fact that I can get my kids all riled up to celebrate their dad and granddad.

I’ve been lucky enough to have some amazing father-figures in my life, and the best way to love on them is through food, right?

Brats Benedict

This year, I wanted to create something a little different. You know how it goes. You have the same routine for Father’s Day each year.

You give gifts early in the morning, and follow up with breakfast in bed. If this is left to the kids, breakfast for dad is always pretty interesting.

We decided to kick it up a notch and offer daddy a spin on on the usual breakfast with his favorite bratwursts. Brats Benedict!

Simple Recipe With Easy Grilling Hack

It’s a simple recipe with only a few main ingredients. I have to admit, I’d never made poached eggs at home, but they were pretty easy to create! I had no problem cooking the bratwurst either.

To incorporate grilling into the meal, I used our stovetop grill to get those beautiful grill marks.

Once I had the grill marks on the brats, I transferred them to a skillet with about 1/2 cup water seasoned with a bit of kosher salt. They continued to cook on medium/low heat for about 15 minutes.

The Secret To Perfect Hollandaise Sauce

For the poached eggs, I actually watched a video on YouTube and was shocked at how simple it was. Then, I made the super complex hollandaise sauce. It took forever and ever. Just kidding.

It was made it from a packet I found at the store. I’ve found the same hollandaise packets on Amazon, so you can order them and have them on hand in your pantry.

Mama wants to get fancy, but I don’t want to stress over a Father’s Day breakfast! I did doctor it up by adding a little bit of cayenne pepper. It added a whole other level of flavor to the hollandaise.

Father’s Day Breakfast – Assemble!

Toast an English muffin, slice the bratwurst sausage on a bias, add the poached eggs and sausage on top of the toast, then slowly pour the hollandaise sauce over this creation. Oh my, it looked (and smelled) delicious.

We served it to Dad to see if it was a contender for his Father’s Day breakfast this year.

I’m not sure, but I think he liked it. He had this smile on his face the whole time he ate it.

This “recipe” can be created in no time, and the smell will surely wake Dad up on Father’s Day. Try it out and let us know how it works out for you.
