Sharing is caring!

This 5 ingredient, 5 step chicken dinner recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight meal.

Let’s give it up for easy recipes, especially this yogurt chicken dinner!

Lately, I’ve been reviewing some of our family favorites when it comes to dinner, and my goal is to share as many of them as possible here.

Yogurt Chicken is one of those favorite recipes that just so happens to be beyond easy.

The ingredients are simple, and it uses chicken legs, one of the most inexpensive proteins at the grocery store. An inexpensive chicken dinner? Now that’s what’s up.

This 5 ingredient, 5 step chicken dinner recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight meal.

What Are The Ingredients?

Yogurt Chicken uses simple items that are right in your fridge and pantry:

  • olive oil
  • garlic salt
  • dried thyme
  • ground black pepper for a bit of spice
  • and of course, yogurt

Everything gets mixed together and poured over the chicken pieces. After 35 minutes in the oven,  you have one of the most delicious dinners ever.

The enzymes in the yogurt make the meat so juicy. It pretty much melts in your mouth.

Yogurt Chicken can also be a make-ahead meal. Make the yogurt mixture, pour over the chicken, cover with plastic wrap and place in your fridge. You can make ahead up to 24 hours.

No, we usually use just plain yogurt. Feel free to try Greek yogurt, and let us know how it turns out!

Does the dish need to be covered in the oven?

Nope! The chicken skin will get all crispy and delicious. No need to cover it 🙂

Will this only work on drumsticks or could I use thoughts or breast? Boneless skinless on either?

We’ve used bone-in thighs as well, but haven’t any boneless variety of chicken. If you try it out, let us know how it goes!

Tried it with boneless breast and it was a big hit! Even with our super picky 9 and 6 year olds!

We either make rice or butter noodles, and any green veggie I can find. Peas seem to be the kids’ favorite.
