I’ve officially dived into the magical land of audiobooks, and I compiled a list of the best audiobooks narrated by the authors.

I do have my fair share of physical books in our home, but with our busy schedule and new business, I’m finding that audiobooks are my new love.

Why? Because the audiobooks I’m falling in love with just happen to be narrated by the people that actually wrote the books. Go figure.

Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines

If you are a fan of The HGTV show Fixer Upper, you will absolutely love hearing Chip and JoJo narrate their latest book. It’s so endearing hearing Chip and Jo share their love story, the beginning of their family business, and how they ended up on reality TV.

Troublemaker by Leah Remini

Leah’s voice is one that can’t be replicated. This is why it’s such an experience to hear her narrate her New York Times Bestselling Scientology memoir. You’ll laugh, gasp, and cry a bit while listening.

I’m Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi

If you aren’t familiar with Luvvie from Awesomely Luvvie, you just might be living under a rock. Luvvie’s NYT Bestseller is just as amazing as her online platform. To hear her speak her own words seemed right, and to hear her nail the comedic genius within her first book seemed necessary.

Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson

Confession: I’ve read this book twice. I’ve also listened to Jenny on the audiobook version of Furiously Happy twice. Why? Because she makes me almost pee my pants from laughter every time I read or listen to her work.

Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson

Yes, I’m listing Jenny twice. She is a phenomenal writer, y’all. You have to listen to her reading her work. You just have to. It will make your week.

Bossypants by Tina Fey

Tina Fey just might be every woman’s soul sister. Hearing her share her life from little Greek girl to Hollywood power player will make you laugh, and encourage you to learn. Plus, the jokes shared in this gold mine of an audiobook will have your sides hurting.

Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

The powerhouse Shonda Rhimes narrates her book with such ease, you almost feel like you’re sitting on her couch while she tells you her life story. If you’re a fan of her TGIT lineup on ABC, you will love to hear how it all started from a very determined woman, and how that woman challenged herself to be more and do more within a timespan of 12 months.

For The Love by Jen Hatmaker

Jen’s voice brings her book to life, as she talks about finding grace for ourselves and others, in a time when it’s almost impossible to do. Also, you will never hear the phrase “for the love” pronounced any other way after listening to Jen say it throughout the book. If you need a pick-me-up, listen to this reading.

Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher

The audiobook version is so much more heartfelt now that Carrie has passed away, and it’s just as funny as it’s always been. Carrie shares intimate and hilarious outtakes from her own life, as well as the lives of her parents, and their equally famous friends. Plus, it’s Carrie Fisher swearing at you through your headphones. Who wouldn’t want to experience that?
