General Hospital was part of my upbringing. My grandmother, mom and I all watched this legendary soap opera. General Hospital is one of those soaps that always remind me of my grandmother, and spending afternoons (and sick days) at her house. When I found out we would be able to do a General Hospital set visit during the #HanSoloEvent, I just about cried.
Thank you to ABC and Disney for making this bucket list item come true!
General Hospital is celebrated their 55th anniversary on April 1st, and it’s the longest running soap opera in production right now, as well as the longest running scripted television drama. We were invited to visit the General Hospital set, and get a sneak peek at one of the performances for this year’s Nurses Ball. Die hard GH fans know how important (and fun) the Nurses Ball is every year, so it was pretty cool to see one of the performances ahead of time.
General Hospital’s Nurses Ball
Executive Producer Frank Valentini shared a sneak peek of Detective Harrison Chase’s 2018 Nurses Ball performance. I can’t wait for you all to see it! No spoilers, but it was so fun to watch. Detective Harrison Chase is played by the super handsome Joshua Swickard. Here’s more information about this year’s Nurses Ball, so get those DVRs ready to record!
General Hospital’s annual Nurses Ball, this year sponsored by Olay, returns WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, and airs through MONDAY MAY 21. Founded in 1994 by Port Charles resident Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring), the Nurses Ball is one of fictional Port Charles’ most glamorous charity events, dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness and research. This year, celebrity guest appearances include “The Chew”’s Carla Hall and “The Bachelor”’s Nick Viall.
In her debut performance, Hall takes on an infamous role decades in the making; while Viall joins Aurora media maven Nina Clay (Michelle Stafford) on the red carpet, as they welcome viewers into what promises to be a memorable night. From Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) stunning arrival to Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) unwavering support and Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) tireless search for answers, as well as never-before-seen musical performances and a surprise proposal, the Nurses Ball promises to be this year’s can’t-miss event.
Becoming Part Of The Cast
When you’re part of a General Hospital set visit, you just have to reenact some of your favorite soap opera scenes. My friend, and fellow GH fangirl, Tania decided that we needed to do a slap scene. What’s an episode of General Hospital with a good, solid slap?! I think we nailed it.
Life as a Port Charles judge must be exhausting. So many kidnappings, murders, and unsavory characters to put on trial. I borrowed my friend Kathy’s glasses, and got to work. Ha!
More General Hospital Set Visit Photos
I know what you all really want to see: more photos of the set! One set I was bummed we couldn’t see was the Quartermaine’s living room, but we were told that set actually takes up the space of FIVE sets, so they put it together sparingly. I can just imagine how long it takes to put it together; the Quartermaine’s living room is so regal and over-the-top.
Here are some awesome photos from the set:
