easy baked spaghetti

This recipe for Spaghetti Bake, or baked spaghetti if you please, is so simple. It’s almost embarrassing how easy this meal is to make.

You can substitute the mushrooms for half a pound of ground beef or chopped-up chicken breast for a more meaty meal.

An Easy Meatless Monday Dinner Option

As I mentioned, this can be made into a meat-filled meal, but if you are looking to expand your meatless Monday list, this is the perfect option.

To make the baked spaghetti casserole even more robust, add some sauteed zucchini, spinach, or even peppers to the mix. Another lazy way to add more vegetables is to use the garden combination variety of Ragu pasta sauce. The vegetables are already cooked!

  • 1lb box spaghetti (no.8 or no.9)
  • 1 14oz jar of spaghetti sauce, any flavor
  • 1 8oz can mushrooms
  • 1 14.5oz can petite diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 8oz bag shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup pasta water
  • 1/8 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/8 cup dried oregano

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Spray a 8×8-inch pan with cooking spray. Reserve to the side.

Break spaghetti in half and cook half the time mentioned in the box.
While the spaghetti is cooking, drain the tomatoes and mix them with oregano and mushrooms in a medium bowl.

Drain spaghetti, reserving 1/4 cup of the pasta water. Add spaghetti sauce, tomato mix, and spaghetti back to the pot and mix well.
Add the mixture to the prepared pan, and top with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

Bake in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until the mixture is bubbly and the cheese is melted.

This sounds much better then my pasta bake but a little heavy on the oregano. How about a little fresh garlic. I love garlic. A salad and warm crusty bread. I am definitely trying this recipe. Thanks for sharing

true, it seems like alot of oregano but we are oregano freaks here and hubby is a garlic freak so I made a side of garlic cheesy bread to go with this, along with a small salad. Hope you enjoy it!
