With the upcoming holiday and Sonny Boy’s birthday, I realized that I really needed to start looking at the big picture, grocery-wise. Our pantry, fridge and freezer are full, and I mean full. There is no way I can buy anything else until we start “living off the land.” As, I realized this, I remembered that we will be taking our July 4th trip to Ohio in less than 3 weeks and besides packing, I need to make sure our house is in order, my school work is done and that I have meal plans ready for the remaining weeks. Exhausting, to say the least.
So, I collectively decided(me. myself and I agreed) that I would not shop anymore for the rest of the month and use the alloted grocery money toward gas for the trip. I also won’t shop(hopefully) during the first part of July. Ok, don’t get it twisted: I will have to buy a few things during that time period, but they shouldn’t anything other than milk, bread, and maybe the occasional fresh vegetable. We have everything else we would need, I think. No, wait, I know. I KNOW we have enough…. think.
This should be quite an interesting experiment and I think I will pass with flying colors. Now, if you are a great reader between the lines, you will notice that I didn’t say that I would give up my CVS. I’m in love with it. I just can’t quit you! I get my sunday papers from there so I have to venture there….really! I do have to. I don’t have a choice!
I will keep you all posted on how well this little idea pans out. I’m just hoping that the 180 dollars I’m going to save not shopping will be enough for gas. These prices are really making me want to cry.
