I don’t know if you all have noticed this but I’m a bit of a free spirit. I love to go with the flow and place flowers in my hair. I love to run down open meadows and spin in circles. OK, it may not be that extreme, but I do love to stay in la la land. This thought process contributes to my love (and extensive knowledge) of many movies, music albums and tv shows. Its the piscean in me. We pisces love la la land. And shoes. Both are our weaknesses.
Needless to say, this fault of mine contributes to everything in my lifestyle, most recently organizing and listing everything in my pantry. I decided to try not to shop for the next 2 to 3 weeks while we are packing for the big move and that resulted in, well, quite a big pantry fill-up last week. I cannot fit ANYTHING else in there….or my fridge….or my freezer. I knew that I really needed to create an inventory of everything I have so my meal planning would be easier for the next few weeks. Then the picean kicked in. Structure? No structure! Lets go play! Or watch Sex and the City: The Movie! Or listen to our Ipod again! La La La…..fun fun fun.
This is what I go through every week. I get so bored with “serious” stuff and just want to do what comes my way….wherever the waves take me. Can you see how this is detrimental to our frugality? Because I don’t know what I have in my pantry and fridge, I haven’t finished my meal plan for next week yet. Nor have I finished prepping for my meals for THIS week. It’s pretty bad, y’all.
So, today, I’m taking a stand! Yesterday I tackled all of our old mail and paperwork, got rid of about 80% of it and filed the rest away in our filing container. Today, my friends, I’ll tackle the inventory in the freezer. It’s the smallest area I need to inventory and I know I will get through it without seeing something shiny and fun and wanting to go play with it. Sonny Boy will be in the middle of his nap/resting time so he won’t distract me either. Tomorrow: The fridge. And last but not least, Friday will be the actual pantry. Mama’s gonna get this done. No more distractions and excuses. Oh! A doorknob! Shiny……
So how about you? Ever get so distracted that it wrecks your plans for the week? Do you have trouble sticking to your plans? Please tell me I’m not alone! :o)
