Oh boy! One of my favorite things to stockpile….cereal! It always seems like we have way too many boxes of cereal and then, all of a sudden, we’re down to 5 and I get nervous. Up there, I have 17 boxes of cereal lined up on our small counter. 17! What’s even more sad, is that I know for a fact that I didn’t pay any OOP for half of them. Once a reach a certain amount of boxes, I only “buy” them if they are free or a money maker. And since Hubby takes a box of cereal to work for his breakfasts, I have to make sure we do have a good amount and some type of variety. Coupons and free samples of cereal make this task pretty easy.
There are times that I use cereal for cooking and baking, so I also have to make sure we have a proper stockpile for that. I use rice krispies as a panko bread crumb substitute in my no-fry tenders. I use raisin bran for raisin bran muffins every once in a while, when we need a healthy snack to go with lunch. I also use cheerios to make a pie crust, when we don’t have graham crackers in the house.
So, I really don’t feel too bad about having so many boxes of cereal. I also don’t feel bad that I’m going to get more free boxes this week at the grocery store. That’s the way the stockpile world goes ’round….
