Set the party mood with an invitation (giveaway)

Sharing is caring!

We try to do a good amount of celebrating in our family. Because life is so short, we try to make sure we enjoy our friends and family and create get-togethers at least every 2 months. For the big celebrations, like birthdays or anniversaries, I try to make them beyond special. When you’re on a budget, it can seem like this might be a challenge, but you just have to pick and choose where you want to stretch your dollars. Here are a few quick tips:

-Work on the food first. I find that if you put a menu together, everything else seems to fall into place easily. I’ve written about how taking charge of the menu can be a great money saver, and it still stands true. Look in your cupboards, freezer and fridge and create an easy spread. If you’re drawing a blank, try using a site like Super Cook where you can put in the ingredients you have at home and they’ll find recipes for you. Fantastic!

– Keep it homey and use all of your dishes. It’s so sad when you collect nice tableware or platters but never use them. You can get a double bonus by picking a recipe that will showcase the dishes. Have a wonderful white platter? Slow cooker some beef roast with potatoes or cook it in mexican seasonings and serve with warm tortillas. Your guests, even if it’s your immediate family, will feel like a million bucks since they get to eat on the “good china.”

– Create an awesome invitation. Even if you’re only inviting Mom, Dad and a few of the extended family, sending off an invitation is always a great way to set the mood. Truthfully, this might be the biggest expense of the whole party, but it doesn’t have to be. Take advantage of photo and invitation printing deals around the blogosphrere and even giveaways of cool new ways to make invitations. Speaking of giveaways…
