Songbird

Sharing is caring!

As most of my veteran readers know, we love anything to do with music in our household. When Sonny Boy was a few years younger, we used to have Music Mondays. It was one of our favorite things to do together and I’ve made a point of continuing it with the Duchess.

Although we have done most of the same lessons I created for Sonny, the Duchess seems to be more in tune(pun intended) to singing. Yes, she’s only 20 months, but she has an uncanny ability to learn a song after hearing it only once or twice. Our plan now is to nurture this new talent.

Sometimes I feel a bit guilty for keeping my children with me at home instead of putting them in some type of day care at least a few times of week. I’m always unsure if I’m doing enough to enrich their little minds and encourage them to shine. Thankfully, these little “classes” that we do at home have shown me that I am making a difference.

So now we have a songbird on our hands. Now if I can only get her to sing while I videotape her. Baby steps, I guess.

Oh jeez, don’t feel guilty about keeping kids @ home instead of day care a few times/week. Remember, the advice I gave you years ago? > “Just because it’s “different” doesn’t mean it’s wrong.” My kids are adults now, and hold so many memories in their hearts from being home when they were little. They didn’t want to go to day care & we didn’t want them there! And that’s why one of us chose to stay home.

We were grateful we were two parents. When there’s only one, day care may be the only option available.

And funny–as the kids got older, the other neighborhood kids (w/ 2 parents working full time) were always at our house when school ended.

Remember, you & hubby are your kids’ FIRST teachers. You’re one of the best moms I know, lady!
