It sucks to be sick. It really sucks to be sick, have no food in the house, and no energy to do some major grocery shopping. It also sucks when everyone else has been sick for almost a week, are getting over it, and now you start to get sick. So, yeah, that’s how Thursday started out for me, but I did get to accomplish some things before my body gave out on me.
When I woke up with body aches, I knew I had to act fast. I made myself get out of the beda little before the kids got up, and I fed myself some homemade applesauce and a cup of lemon zinger tea. I was so ecstatic that I made this applesauce earlier in the week; it got my belly full enough to get through the morning, and it was so cool down my scratchy throat. I got Sonny’s lunch done, the kids breakfast going, and everyone out the door on time.
When we got back to the house, I needed to lay down for a minute, so I set up Duchess with some activities. Once she’d gotten board with drawing on cardboard and playing with her puzzle, she just wanted to lay down too. I put on Sesame Street (aaah Elmo for the win) and we chilled on the bed for a bit.
I managed to feel better enough to get back into my office, e-mail off some guest posts, print off the coupons we’d need for our afternoon grocery trip, and (once I felt the need to lay down again), I filmed a quick vlog about how I was sick.
Since I’m part of Vlogtober this month, I have to get a video in, even if it’s a short one stating the obvious. A challenge is a challenge!
And I did. I knew that I didn’t have the strength to get to the store today. I’d prepped everything but I couldn’t get up and go, especially with a toddler. I watched her play with her toys in her room for a bit, we ate lunch (well, she ate lunch) and it was nap time. I actually took one too.
I shot a text message to The Husband and told him that he was in charge of dinner tonight. I knew that would mean either spaghetti or take out, but I didn’t care. Lucky for me, he chose to do take out from one of our favorite Jewish Deli’s, Harold’s.
A giant corned beef sandwich, some pickles and delicious cole slaw made an awesome dinner, and I didn’t have to cook!
Later, I laid on the couch while the Hubs got everyone ready for bed. I totally passed out. But don’t worry, my 7 year old made sure to document the end of my day:
Isn’t he sweet? He got mommy with her mouth open and added in the flash to make me look extra peaked. Fantastic.
