#FashionFriday- Quality Glasses on a Dime

Sharing is caring!

firmoo review

I love glasses. I’m the geeky girl that begged and pleaded for glasses when I was little because I was determined to take my awkwardness to the next level. I also wanted to have braces, but that’s another post. I finally got to wear glasses in junior high and I thought I was the nerdy bomb dot com. Little did I know, I’d be the girl that constantly sat on her glasses. And lose them. I’m such a catch. Anyway, this cost my parents tons of money in replacement glasses. Glasses can be expensive, y’all! So today, I want to talk about quality glasses on a pauper’s budget. Here are some tips on how to get the best glasses on a dime:

1. Use your insurance
Yes, this may seem pretty trivial, but not everyone fully uses their insurance when it comes to getting prescription glasses. A lot of people don’t take full advantage of insurance when it comes to eyewear. More specifically, most people don’t call their insurance to find out what type of glasses are covered. If you get a list together of what you are allowed to get without having to pay extra, it makes your choices easier. And hey, those Louis Vuitton glasses just might be included!

2. Use the “Big Box” stores
Sam’s Club, Costco, and BJ’s Wholesale Club offer a great selection of glasses for a deep discount. Don’t have a  membership? Look online for one-day (or in BJ’s case, 30-day) memberships and use them to go get your new eyewear.

3. Save big with online stores
There are some great online sites that sell quality eyewear on the cheap. Firmoo is an online retailer that prides itself on creating quality designer glasses but for a discounted price. They’ll even put your prescription in the glasses, as long as you know what it is. Heck, they’ll even put a prescription in sunglasses for you. I grabbed some cute tortoiseshell sunglasses for the summer. They are well made, look cool, and are so inexpensive. You can’t lose! Also, Firmoo offers its “First Pair Free” program, where you get your first pair of glasses for free! All you pay is shipping.

I hope some of these tips will help you get those cool new glasses for cheap. Do you have any other suggestions on how to get the best deals on eyeglasses?

Costal only makes sense if you wear single vision lenses. I tried the first pair free promo but with bifocals, the lenses would cost $95! Eyebuydirect is a much better deal.

I have prisms in my lenses so I am afraid to try any place online – I wonder if that is even an option…

That’s a really good question. Firmoo’s customer service is really great; you should shoot them an email or give them a call.

This is great advice … Insurance is a great way to bring the cost down on prescription eye wear … I used to pay on average 400 bucks for one pair and with my insurance at lens crafter I pay around 110. They will call for you while you are there to find out what exactly your insurance covers. I found out that after my first pair everything else is 40% off, including designer sunglasses ON CLEARANCE woot woot! This post just reminded me that I need to go get my eyes checked!

Cute sunglasses! Firmoo does have some cute glasses. I was going to try the free first pair program, but allas my prescription is too strong. But I may get some anyway. Their prices on frames are really good.
