Summer is finally here! Well, according to the arrival of Memorial Day we can finally say that we’re on the heels of a new season. So let’s talk about Memorial Day fashion on a dime today. When it comes to the summer holidays, I love to turn to a great nautical theme. Blue, white and a pop of color always seems to fair well when dressing for a barbecue or a date night under the fireworks.
The dress is a beautiful stripe that’s perfect for most body types. The stripe isn’t too big or too small and I love how brilliant the blue color is. Also? It’s only 23 bucks from Target! Because it’s a classic pattern, you’ll be using it as a base to many outfits over the years.
For the daytime outfit, I paired the dress with a pair of orange hoops from Target and a flat gladiator sandal from Charlotte Russe. These are perfect for running after kiddos at the park or in someone’s backyard during a barbecue. The hoops provide an unexpected pop of color. If you aren’t a hoops gal, try wearing a bauble necklace in the same color.
For the nighttime outfit, I sassed it up with some silver drop earrings and a cute red low wedge from Target. If you and your honey want to sneak away for a Memorial Day date night, this would be perfect. The wedge is low enough to walk in a field while watching the fireworks (and not having the danger of tripping and falling on other gazers).
The best part? All of the shoes and accessories are under 20 bucks!
So what’s your Memorial Day fashion going to look like this year? Have you found any good fashion deals for the summer?
I loved the stripe dress, a great look!
Thanks Susan!
Great finds…everything should be under twenty bucks 🙂
You got that right, Melanie!
Cute outfit!! I love how the sandlals can make the outfit pop!!
Thanks Maria! I love creating a pop in an outfit with a good shoe.
Oh, I love that striped dress! Not sure if I could pull it off, but I love it!
You could so pull it off, Mariah. You’re a beauty!
loving the stripes, what a lovely outfit!
Thanks Renee!
Love this look! Looks very pulled together and comfortable! I like the flat sandals with this dress!
Thanks so much, Susan!
I really like the night earrings.
I love them too, Randa. They are perfect for a summer date night out.
Love it! I’d totally wear everything here – the blue and white stripes with the red shoes are so perfect for this weekend – great finds!
Thanks Whitney!
First, thank you for your service to our country. Our world is a better place because of the sacrifices of you and the other military personnel. I love your easy switch from day to night fashion! A very frugal and gorgeous idea.
Thanks for commenting Janeane, and it’s my pleasure to serve, especially for wonderful people like you.
I so love Target for their affordable, fun dresses! And, their earrings. Small confession – I have a ton of earrings from Target. I sort of went crazy the last time I was there.
I’m headed to a local garden for a lunch date with my hubby on Memorial Day. I think I’ll wear my favorite striped Target dress and earrings and a pair of cute shoes from DSW’s clearance rack, and look like a million bucks!
Thanks for linking up at Motivation Monday!
Hi Barb! I am a Target accessories addict too. I hit up their clearance area every time I go in there. They really do have wonderful pieces at great prices. I hope you have fun this weekend in that awesome outfit you have planned!
I’ve always admire those who can put outfits together. You can send me to Target but there is no way, I would be able to come up with those nice combinations. Do they have any nice shorts, I need some?
Oh yes, Target is awesome at shorts! I haven’t gone in a few weeks, but I’ve seen a few great ones online.
Hi Amiyrah,
I love stripes, blue, red, white you name it 🙂 and I love how you style it from day to evening. Thank you for visiting us at pret-a-vivre and leaving the sweet comment.
Have a nice long weekend!
BiTi
Thanks BiTi!
Love how you transitioned this. Since I wear dresses all summer, I know the accessories are the key to taking a day dress out on the town.
Thanks so much, Nicole! I mostly wear sundresses all summer as well, and I tend to go overboard stocking up on trendy accessories because it can turn a dress into a totally different outfit. I’m so honored a “Mom Trends” Mom visited my post. Thanks for commenting!
I found a striped dress like this from Old Navy for $20. All I need now is a think yellow belt and a great pair of flats. But flats are hard for me since I wear a size 10.
A low heel or wedge would look great too! The wedge seems to work with any shoe size; it makes the foot look chic while still giving some stability.
