Oatmeal Banana Bites – Easy Snack For Kids

Looking for a quick snack for kids? This oatmeal banana bites recipe is so easy, the kids can make it themselves!

I’ve made these oatmeal banana bites about a million times since I put it together. There are TONS of similar recipes all over Pinterest, so I just had to make my version of it.

This creation really stemmed from us having a really over-ripe banana that no one wanted to touch, but I knew was still good for something other than a smoothie.

Easy Energy Bite For Kids

I had about an hour until snack time, and remembered most of the ingredients of the “energy bite” recipes, but not the measurements. In true mom fashion, I created my own. I could have googled them but…ain’t nobody got time for that!

As I started making these oatmeal bites, I realized this would be a great no-bake recipe for kids to make themselves. Well, there we go. I just took another thing off of my to-do list. My oldest can easily make these!

Anyway, what follows is the recipe I put together from my brain parts and Pinterest. Also, below the recipe is a video tutorial of how to make the Oatmeal Banana Bites, for those of you (like me) that can relate better to visual cues.

Oatmeal Banana Bites

(12 servings)
1 ripe banana
1 tablespoon peanut butter(or any other spread)
1/2 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup raisins (optional; can substitute any other dried fruit or chopped nuts)
1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 cup crispy rice cereal

Place the banana in a large bowl. Add the peanut butter and honey. Smash together with a fork until smooth.
Add in raisins (optional) and stir together.
Pour in the oatmeal and stir together. If the mixtures still seems to wet to mold into balls, add in more oatmeal, up to half a cup.
Fold in the crispy rice cereal.
Form the mixture into balls, or you can press into a 9×13 pan, chill for a few hours and cut into squares.

The Oatmeal Banana Bites can be eaten immediately, placed covered in the fridge for up to 5 days, or frozen for up to 6 months.

    I love it! Except ok, shhh, *I* wouldn’t eat it (I don’t like ripe bananas OR peanut butter – what’s wrong with me?) but the wee ones would adore it. I have to ask, WHERE and how did you do the video camera? I love it. I have some cooking demos I WANT to do on video but can’t figure out how to do the camera setup. Gorgeous.

      Thanks Michelle! I just put in on my gorilla pod and kind of maneuvered my arms so I wouldn’t knock it over when putting the ingredients in. It was surprisingly easy. Can’t wait to see your cooking tutorials!

    Oh how cute is your video??? I love that. I’ve also seen these “bites” type snacks several times but never tried to make them.

    I would love to know what software you use for your videos. I wish mine looked and sounded so good, jealous!!!

      Thanks Crissy! I just used regular iMovie and did a voiceover on the video so the sound was better. Nothing fancy! 🙂

    These look yum. I always have a hard time following directions. Well I take recipes as “suggestions”. It never seems to work though when I do them for desserts. Will have to try this one day!

      Arelis, I see recipes as suggestions too, but I have finally figured out which parts can’t really be changed, especially in baking. These are super easy though! You can change out ingredients and still get a great snack. I hope you try them!
