You may not be able to tell from her sweet demeanor (ha!), but my girl is a collector.
It doesn’t matter where we go, she finds a new item to gather into a group. If we’re at the beach, shells are the obsession. A trip to the supermarket can yield a collection of anything blue, squishy, or even a small collection of a fruit she’s never tried. As annoying as it may be, I tend to just let her do her thing. I mean, I collect shoes and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Who am I to deny my little Duchess her our collection obsession? This tree has dropped her apple and she definitely didn’t fall too far.
On this day, we decided to take the big red wagon to an open field near our place and run a muck. Well, my little collector had other things in mind.
She was off as soon as we got to the field, frantically searching for something. Anything. I usually have to reel her in quite a bit when we’re out (she’s like a wild toddler stallion), but today I just let her be and snapped as many pictures as I could. I wanted to see how this story would turn out. Then she came back with a huge score.
Heck to the yeah. But wait, she wasn’t finished yet.
“Wingardium Leviosa!”
“Look, Ma. I got a biggun.”
Once she finally got her bounty of kindling, she stood back and admired her hard work. What would you do once you collected a bunch of sticks and carefully placed them all in your wagon? That’s right: you throw them all out and ask if we can go home to have lunch. Toddlers are a squirrelly bunch. So that’s what we did. She threw each and every stick out and asked if she could pull the wagon back home. We even stopped to pick up the mail. My little work horse.
Do you love to collect things? Do your kids have cute, funny, or super interesting collections?
That is adorable! My girls are exactly the same way. Open kits, bags, anything – there’s always treasures inside!
Thanks Tammi! I’m finding that this must be a “girl” thing; lots of mamas of girls are saying their daughters do it too. It’s the cutest.
What a cutie pie she is!!! Love the little dress too, how fun great way to help clean up a yard :-)!!
Thanks Kelsey! She’s a great “helper” when she wants to be. Also, *whispering* the dress was on clearance at Old Navy :D.
Oh.my.goodness. She is SO CUTE!!
Thanks Laura!
How cute!!! That last picture almost makes it look like she turned all those sticks into paper!
My 4 year old carries a big purse around to collect things LOL – your daughter is adorable!!
A big purse?! Now you have me thinking lol. Maybe we’ll give her a big purse from the thrift store for her birthday. I’m just imagining all the goodies she’ll collect in that one!
I simply can’t get over how cute she is!
Aww thank you, Mel!
