Stars and Brights #FashionFriday

Sharing is caring!

Next week, everyone will be firing up their grills, pulling out their lawn chairs and preparing themselves for parades and fireworks. Independence Day is finally here! While it’s technically after the first day of summer, I view the Fourth of July as the real start of summer. It’s such a fun holiday, and with any fun holiday, it’s so refreshing to find a cute outfit to wear in celebration.

This year, I decided to throw caution to the wind and dismiss the red from the “Red, White and Blue.” Instead of Stars and Stripes, I went for Stars and Brights.

While I didn’t stick with red, I did keep it patriotic with a star-filled, light and airy sleeveless shirt. This top is from Better Be was purchased at the thrift store for 6 bucks. That’s a little high for this frugal gal, but it was so cute, I couldn’t resist. The jean shorts are a past clearance find from Old Navy.

I loved the detail at the top of the piece, and the gold button detailing was such a great pairing with the navy stars. Putting a hot pink tank underneath gave the outfit a subtle brightness.

I kept it funky with it came to accessories. This awesome piece was created by my homegirl Robin Plemmons from Lemons with a Pea. Her Etsy shop is fun, funny, and full of amazing artwork. Be sure to check it out!

For my earrings, I grabbed a pair of gold sparrow studs I got off of eBay for a steal. How does 2 dollars sound? Frugal and fabulous!

My shoes are a pair of Born of Concept wedges I bought from DSW a few years ago with a gift card. They are so comfortable; the cushion makes you feel like your walking in high heeled sneakers.

Last but not least, let’s talk about this hat! It was another thrift find. We were at check out in Plato’s Closet and the husband found it sitting on the side. He said I needed to have it (I am 4 HATS and frugal, right?). It was only 4 dollars and it’ll be used quite a bit. It’s the perfect year-round hat.

What are you all planning to wear for Independence Day or Canada Day? Will you go patriotic or keep it simple?
