A big thanks to Steel Pier for providing us with complimentary tickets to experience their park during our #jerseylove retreat. All opinions, experiences, and moments of high pitched screaming described in this post are my own.
Have you ever lived in an area and never experienced one of the best attractions around? Have you ever visited a city for work each month, but never experienced the fun for all ages that was right under your nose? I have, and thanks to the recent Jersey Love retreat in Atlantic City, I got to have extreme fun at one of the city’s most exciting attractions for families exploring the boardwalk.
Steel Pier opened in 1898 and was originally known for hosting the top entertainers from the 1920s to the 1950s. Owner Anthony Catanoso shared the pier’s history with us over cotton candy (my favorite!) and funnel cake during our visit a few weeks ago. The Catanoso family, who took ownership from Trump Taj Mahal in 1993, have big plans for the Pier. By 2015, they will have 60% of their rides indoors, and will also provide a family restaurants in an upper promenade area connected to the Taj Mahal. They also have plans to create a space for events, such as large parties and even weddings. Can you imagine having a wedding at the Steel Pier?! I’d get married all over again just to have that experience.
Anthony also mentioned their plans to build a 200 foot high observation wheel that will be placed on a 30,000 foot addition to the Pier. This new observation wheel will be the highest in the country at the time of it’s grand opening.
After listening to all of the history and plans the owners had in place, I was eager to ride the attractions! I’m a thrill ride junkie, and I got very lucky that day: there were 3 other ladies that felt exactly the same way I did. We hit up a roller coaster or two:
We even conquered the Sling Shot. It was exhilarating and scary, but the view from the top was phenomenal. If you are a thrill junkie, I definitely recommend to give that ride a go!
I even got in a video of all of our fun at the Steel Pier (and more) during that eventful Saturday:
I had a blast at Steel Pier and even made a few new friends in the process. Since they have rides for all ages, the whole family can make memories at this historic Atlantic City pastime.
Give the Steel Pier a shout out on their Facebook page, and follow them on twitter, to get the full details of all the fun they have to offer this season.
Looks like it was a lot of fun… love the pic of you all on the roller coaster! I’ve never been to the east coast but definitely enjoy checking out new attractions. My husband is originally from there so it’d be a great family trip to go visit one day.
I hope you both get a chance to come to the East Coast for a vacation! We have so many lovely places to visit, it’ll be hard to choose where to go. I’d tell you to come straight to the Jersey shore, but I’m a little bit biased :).
Looks like you guys had a great day!
We really did, Randa! Steel Pier is an awesome place.
Sounds like fun! We love to going to AC in the summer – we have friends we go with and a regular hotel we stay at. So much fun!
Atlantic City is such a fun city for all! It’s not all about the gambling, right? Steel Pier is a great place for friends to explore together. You get to see which friends are the bravest :-D.
Wow, this looks like a blast. We love amusement park rides, it always makes for a fun day.
Thanks Colby! We love amusement parks too. My parents got me into thrill rides when I was very little and i’m still obsessed with them. Steel Pier had a ton of great rides for all ages.
I’ve never been, looks like so much fun!
Tears! The end of the vlog got me! I think you have amazing things ahead in your future A! You gotz talent and lots of heart! Nj is so lucky to have you! Thanks for going to steel pier with me!
