Black and White and Awesome

Sharing is caring!

sparkly top, black white and yellow patterned skirt

I have an obsession with black and white. When fall and winter comes around, I tend to have a uniform of my best black and white pieces, with a pop of color in the mix. So, imagine my delight when I found out that black and white would be a trend for this fall and winter. This gave me an excuse to go back to the closet (and the thrift store) and mix up some “keyboard fun!”

black sequin shirt, black, white and yellow skirt and arm candy

shirt: Forever 21/ skirt: Doki Geki

I snagged this black sequin shirt and this graphic skirt at Plato’s Closet for only 3 dollars each. I decided to tuck the shirt into the skirt since it was a bit slouchy. I wanted to make sure my waistline was prominent. I love that the skirt is a unique pattern and has pockets! Every dress and skirt should have pockets. For real.

black sequin shirt, black, white and yellow skirt and "arm candy"

I paired this outfit with some sweet arm candy. The black and white bracelets I got years ago from forever 21, and the sterling silver bracelet was gifted to me recently by a dear bloggy friend.

black patent leather cap toe heels by Miss Me

shoes: Miss Me

These shoes have always been one of my favorite pairs. They are made by Miss Me and are surprisingly comfortable. I love how they tie in the front to give it a 1940s vibe. I’d wear this outfit out on a fall dinner date with my husband or  night out with the girls.

Blazer by Wallis, Biggie Smalls tank, black cigarette pants

When it comes to black and white, there’s always room to add in a little grey. This awesome blazer is from Wallis Fashion. It was gifted to me during an event I attended in chicago a few weeks ago. This is definitely my more expensive piece in this outfit (62 dollars), but it’s well-structured and a neutral color.

grey blazer, floral lining and Biggie Smalls tank

Blazer: Wallis Fashion / Tank top: Forever 21

To funk up this daytime outfit, I threw on my Biggie Smalls tank and black skinny jeans. It’s edgy, fun and comfortable. The perfect outfit for a day in the city. If you want to be a little less adventurous, a basic white tee would look just as great under the blazer.

black and silver statement necklace, grey blazer, and biggie smalls tank top

Necklace and earrings: Fleurty Girl

This necklace was a great piece I grabbed from Fleurty Girl in New Orleans last weekend. I immediately fell in love with it. The shine of the silver brings a great pop to any outfit. This necklace would look great over a bright colored shirt. The necklace came with the silver-plated earrings i’m wearing, as well.

hunter green pumps with a silver pointy toe, from Target

Shoes: Target

To keep with the fall trend, I threw on these pointy-toe hunter green and silver pumps from Target. I got these on clearance last winter for 7 bucks. I’m so excited that hunter green is on trend this season; I’ll be wearing this out for the next few months.

So, the real question is: which black and white outfit is your favorite? Date night awesome or Daytime chic?

You have such great style. Teach me your ways!

Part of my problem with accessories is my metal sensitivity. Sometimes I can wear a little and other times I can’t. I have some items that are wood, fabric, stones, or leather, but I miss the sparkle of metallic.

Anne, do you have an adversity to spray paint or mod podge? I’d find a cool wooden piece and spray it a great glossy metallic color. Seal it with mod podge and it will last for a long time!

I cannot choose. They are both smashing. Oh alright.. When you twist my arm I will choose the first, night out.
Like you I am so fond of black and white, with a pop of colour. I have to add the colour as black and white is not really good for me.
I found you through Visible Monday and will bookmark you. Although you are much younger than I am, you might come up with combinations I can copy (the best compliment anyone can give you) even though I am older. As I think you are doing a great styling job.

Thank you so much for visiting, Grettje! Yes, I have to add in something bright or fun with a black and white outfit too. It dulls my skin to just wear a black and white outfit. I hope I can give you some inspiration and I’ll follow your blog as well.

You have some highly tuned taste, young lady! Your black and white craving is right on the money, and right now. How much fun you must be having. I love everything I see on this blog … and I’m tickled to see the girly lining on your jacket … just a very cool touch. That necklace is just wonderful.
Can’t/won’t choose between the looks … no, no …you can’t make me!
