Rides, Raps and the Kia Sportage

I take pride in the fact that my kids are obsessed with rides and attractions. Whether we’re at a water park, playground, or even Disney, my brood loves a good time on a thrill ride. Yes, they get that from me. So, when I promised to take them to Bowcraft amusement park in a 2013 Kia Sportage, they were game. They really are my little gangsta boos.

We’ve become very familiar with Kia vehicles, having a great time in the Kia Optima just a few months ago. When we were asked to review the Kia Sportage, I was a little hesitant. The only issue we had with the Optima was the space. We’re a very active family of 4, so we need a good amount of cabin and cargo space. I had the Kia Sorento on our list to review for a while, but initially thought the Sportage would be too small. It turns out, the Sportage was a great choice for us. It even held a week’s worth of my military gear!

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of the Sportage, it shows as a great family vehicle. With 30 miles to the gallon on the highway and Eco driving system, I was able to drive the car two hours down to my base, around town for a week, in NJ shore traffic and then to the amusement park on one tank of gas. As a frugal gal, I really appreciated using the eco driving system to keep a constant speed and utilize the the gas efficiently.

While my daughter’s car seat can make it seem like any car has a small back seat, the Sportage had ample room. We could fit another person in the middle of the seat with no issues. Although, if we had another kiddo to put in that 3rd seat, our time with the Sportage really would have resembled a thrill ride.

Final thoughts on the 2013 Kia Sportage

As an option for a frugal family of 4, we give this car two thumbs up. The Eco-efficient mileage and the ample room, makes it worth the investment. Also, the fact that the Kia Sportage is ranked in the top 10 affordable compact SUVs makes in a must-test drive car for those of us in the frugal crew looking for a car that will last. If you’re down, sign up for a test-drive at your local dealership and see what your options are. It’s worth the look-see.

We liked it so much that I made a rap video about it. Yes, a rap video. Don’t judge me; I get excited about interesting things, like a cubby to place my sunglasses in a car.

When I was purchasing my first car Kia was still new and I was nervous about the company. I kinda regret not going for it. This makes me want to shop for something new.

I was wondering how roomy this vehicle was. I don’t want to get a minivan, but I think it is time for a bigger vehicle. Also, the video was awesome!

Thanks Lesa! The Sportage is roomier than I thought it would be. It was plenty of room for our family of 4. My husband likes to push the chair all the way back to drive, and even with him doing that, the kids has plenty of room in the back. I’m hoping to test drive the Sorento soon, since it’s a bigger vehicle, so I can compare the two.
