The best part of New Year’s Eve is the outfits. Ok, the best part is the cocktails, the fun and then the outfits. Since this will be my second New Year’s Eve back from Afghanistan, I’m dressing up for the fun of it. Last year, I rocked some cute purple pumps and a low key outfit, but this year 2014 deserves one thing: sequins.
I snagged this dress from Old Navy’s clearance sale this past weekend for only 11 bucks. I actually saw it while I was in line to check out and the lady behind me encouraged me to grab it. I love Old Navy enablers.
The best part of a sequin dress is that you can bypass wearing a necklace. I have a necklace addition, but sometimes you just have to leave them in the jewelry box and let the dress tell the story.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I did accessorize. I had to put on some “arm candy”; an Alex and Ani bracelet I received for the holidays, spiked and sparkly bracelets featured in a previous post, and my favorite silver bracelet that a dear friend gave to me.
I also put on drop earrings I’ve had hiding in my jewelry box and upped the ante with my new favorite purple lipstick.
Here’s the kicker: (see what I did there?) I paired this super glam dress with cool polka dot tights from Duane Reade and motorcycle boots from JustFab. I wanted this to be more of a rocker chic ensemble, so I can feel comfortable when the clock strikes midnight and even three (or four) hours later.
Wishing you all a fun, exciting and safe New Year’s Eve and a prosperous 2014. By the way:
Have I ever told you how adorable you are? And hot. Of course you are a hot mama!
Hahaha! Thank you, Beth darling!
Love it. My goal this year is to learn how to do my eye make up (Carry over from 2013). Your eye makeup is so pretty. Love this outfit.
Thanks Val! It took me a while to figure out eye makeup too, but I just went to YouTube to watch lots of tutorials. Those ladies are really helpful!

Awww so cute! I love the sequins and also how you have coverage. I’m always so cold at wintertime parties when I’m in a sleeveless dress. Happy New Year!
Thanks Jo-Lynne! I get cold at dressier winter events too, so it was so great to find this at Old Navy, and at such a great price!
What a fabulous outfit, Amiyrah! I love how you paired the feminine sequins with the moto boots! And the lipstick…you look gorgeous! Hope your NYE was as fantastic as your outfit.
