New moms need as much help as they can get. I mean, that’s a given, but I always forget how much help new moms need until I’m in the position of taking care of a newborn again. The holiday season, so the arrival of a precious little baby, is the perfect time to provide a mom with things she really needs. Here is a list of 4 gifts for new moms that you never thought of giving.
eMeals
We’ve heard time and time again that mamas would love to be gifted some casseroles or easy meals that can be pulled right out of the freezer during those first few postpartum weeks. But what happens when all of the casseroles are gone, and she wants to get back in the kitchen? Speaking from experience, that mom will be excited and overwhelmed. By gifting her an inexpensive meal planning service like eMeals.com, that will create a shopping list AND give you recipes, she’ll feel like she can conquer the world! Ok, she’ll feel like a normal human being that can cook a simple meal, even in yoga pants and a nursing bra.
Bravado Designs
Speaking of nursing bras, that new mom will need them. Whether she decides to breastfeed exclusively, supplement, or just formula feed, she’ll need bras that can accommodate her, ahem, larger assets. This is a great gift for moms-to-be, since their assets are growing quite large as well. I specifically mentioned Bravado, because after having 3 little ones, I vow that their bras and nursing tanks are the best! They are stylish, comfortable, and have easy to use clasps. This is key when breastfeeding, since you don’t want to keep a crying baby from that milk! The new Elegant Embrace Bra has been a blessing for me as a new mom. If buying a new mom a nursing bra is a bit too intimate for you, give her a nursing tank instead. Pair it with a cute scarf or cardigan and she’s good to go.
Love To Dream Swaddle UP
You may think this gift would be more for the baby than the mom, but you would be so wrong. We all know babies love to be swaddled, especially within those first few weeks and months. We were sent the Love To Dream Swaddle Up before the baby arrived and I have to admit that it looked a bit wacky. But, it’s design makes perfect sense. Babies like to sleep with their arms up, near their head. This new age swaddle does just that. I can’t tell you how many nights this little number saved us from complete exhaustion. The baby immediately calms down (and sometimes sleeps) when we put him in it. Get one for that new mom in your life. She NEEDS this!
The Wonder Weeks
As a “veteran mom,” I wasn’t at all interested in reading What to Expect The First Year again. While they do a good job updating the book, I needed a book with an interesting and helpful way to tackle the baby’s first year. My friend A’Driane told me about The Wonder Weeks, and now I’m hooked. The book is broken down by the weeks of growth for a baby. You find out why they won’t eat during week 5, and why they seem to be up all the time during week 8. There’s even an app that accommodates the book. This a great addition to a new mom’s library.
Are there any gifts for new moms that you think should be added to the list? Please list them in the comments below.
I love the idea of an arms-up swaddler! My daughter accepted the Woombie swaddler we were given, which held her arms down, but without swaddling she sleeps with her arms up most of the time. She’s almost 7 months now so past the swaddling phase.
Nursing bras are a must! Even though some people go for other presents but these gals are very important. They make breast feeding a lot more comfortable and it’s important alright. It’s really advisable that you would breast feed for 2 years at most. So nursing bras are very essential.
