Top Toy Picks Chosen By Kids

I’m pretty sure that it’s because of my kids that I’m seen as “in-the-know” when it comes to featuring the top toy picks of the season. My 9 year old son and my 4 year old daughter keep me in the loop about what toys are really popular and fun. It also seems like they tend to really increase their cool toy recommendations around the holidays. I wonder why? Well, Walmart is also in-the-know thanks to their toy experts — kids! For the second year, Walmart enlisted the help of hundreds of kids to find the top toy picks of the season. What resulted is the Chosen By Kids Top 20 List.

By the looks of this list, and the input from my own children, kids are more interested in toys that encourage their creativity. I love that each toy on the Chosen By Kids Top 20 List works as a catalyst to increasing our kids’ imaginations. My girl has fallen in love with the Spin Master Sew Cool Sewing Machine. Check out the description of this toy:

The Sew Cool Machine is a revolutionary threadless device that’s perfect for a first-time sewing experience. This toy has everything your kids need to start sewing right away and allows them to create nine projects from start to finish. This threadless sewing machine includes patterns and pre-cut shapes for purses, pouches, characters and more. Encouraging imagination and hand-eye coordination, young sewers will love it because they can do it by themselves.

Toy Toy Picks Chosen By Kids

We spent most of the weekend sewing new creations together, and she even did a few on her own. Now she’s even more interested in fashion that ever before. Other awesome toys on the list are Beados Quick Dry Design Station, Make Your Case Cell Phone Cover Kit (great for tweens!), and my current favorite, LeapFrog LeapTV.

The best part is that these top toy picks are perfect for any price point for your holiday budget! There are a few toys on the Chosen By Kids Top 20 List that are under or around 20 dollars. Now that’s a price I can stand behind. Walmart offers so many ways for us to save on these toys:

Walmart Layaway

  • Our layaway program helps customers plan for a great holiday season, and is available in our more than 4,000 stores nationwide.

Walmart Savings Catcher

  • If Savings Catcher finds an advertised price that’s lower than what our customers paid for the same exact item, they get a Walmart eGift Card for the difference—giving our customers yet another reason to trust us when it comes to offering the lowest prices.

Walmart Ad Match Guarantee

  • Through Ad Match, Walmart will match the price of any local competitor’s printed ad for an identical item at the service desk. This applies to layaway items too.

It’s hard to choose! It really is such a great list. Those kids knew what they were talking about, huh? We spent a lot of time getting cozy with the Sew Cool Machine yesterday. Lots of pillows. Lots and lots of pillows! LOL!

Ha! We created 2 pillows for her Cinderella doll, because…princess. She made a purse today all on her own. Such a fun toy!

Erica, it was so much fun to play with! I can’t sew AT ALL, so it was like we were both learning it for the first time. The other toys on the toy list are just as fun and affordable.

So many new toys out and great ways to pay for them. Wish my son was not past the toy stage!

I feel you, Julie! My son is 9 and almost out of the toy age. It’s getting harder to pick gifts for him. Although, I did let him look at the toy list and he found a few toys that he actually liked. Thank you, Walmart! LOL

It’s fun, Amber! I wish I had one as a kid too. Maybe I would know how to sew right now. Ha!

My daughter would totally scream for the toys! It is a good thing that Walmart has all those options like the layaway for the consumer to be able to buy and pay at a longer time.

I love gifts that foster creativity! We’re trying to cut back on the amount of toys we give this year (I say this every year), but I think my daughter would love a sewing machine!

We’re doing the same thing. We’re keeping this one because it’s teaching our girl a new talent while being fun. She did agree to let a toy go in order to keep this one, so that’s how we’re keeping the clutter down.

Ava wants that Sew Cool thing! How do you guys like it? She also wants Beados. Which is hilarious that her list matches up. It’s the Disney Channel I tell you!

I love the Sew Cool, probably more than my kid lol. I love that the needles are completely covered by a thick piece of plastic, so the kids won’t be able to hurt themselves. It worked so well. We have some crafts and patterns that we decided to do this weekend together.
