I’m a member of the #CapriSunCrew, and our family is sharing how we create summer fun. All opinions and experiences are our own.
Summer is here! Our kids are so excited about being about to run all over the neighborhood, and create fun with their friends. One thing that throws a kink in our sun-filled plans is rain. Rain in the summer is just about the worst. We had a long spell of rain here. I was sure the kids would beg to use their electronics right off the bat. But, they did one better. The went old school and made a fort built for two.
It was adorable. My oldest has been making an effort to create a fun summer for his sister, and take as much of that fun outside. When they woke up to a torrential downpour, he immediately asked “Mom, is it OK if we make a fort in the dining room?” Absolutely, kiddo!
They played Uno, dominos, and hybrid of both games that I couldn’t decipher from the kitchen, and then it was all giggles for the rest of the afternoon. I even heard them creating their own story about sunglasses, a pony, and a bow and arrow.
While they explored their imaginations in their fort, I took to the kitchen to make them some snacks. I served them banana oatmeal bites, watermelon slices and Capri Sun. Using your imagination must have been hard work, because they chowed down on their snacks! I could tell that they both loved their Capri Sun break, especially since they asked to have 2 Capri Suns with their snack. And yes, I snuck one too. I had no problem obliging since Capri Sun now contains no High Fructose Corn Syrup and 35% less sugar than leading regular juice drinks*.
If we didn’t need the dining room chairs for dinner, I’m pretty sure the kids would have explored their fort all night. They’ve already picked out the games they want to play in their fort the next time it rains. I guess a little bad weather won’t keep them from pressing play this summer.
