I have to admit, as soon as I became a mom summer scared me. What was I going to do with a kid in the summer? Do I have to send them to camp? Why are there so many camps? WHY DO THESE CAMPS COST SO MUCH?! I panicked a bit.
Once I was put into the throws of it all with each of my kids, I figured it out. Summer is for fun, plain and simple. It doesn’t matter what you do, where you go, or how much sunscreen you slop on, you need to enjoy it all.
This summer, the kids and I are having Dollar Store Day Camp. I’ll write up a post about this very soon (and give you some ideas to help you create your own camp). The best part about this plan is that it’s based all around fun. The kids having fun while learning, and their mama having fun creating these activities. I’m also having fun doing the activities WITH the kids. Plus, I’m still getting my online work done. It’s like a summertime miracle!
What about Baby Frugal? Well, don’t worry about him. He’s been having his own little adventures lately. Spending time in the baby carrier while I go about my day, eating new summer foods (he loves squash and blueberries), and yelling at his brother and sister when they bicker. It’s magical. His latest adventure? Learning that he does not like the grass at the playground, but he loves the benches.
This is my vow: Summer will be fun.
It may not be fun all the time, but by the end of this season, I want my kids to have lots of happy memories of the summer of 2015.
Are you making the same vow? Show us all the fun you’re having on Instagram using the hastag #summerhappy and follow the Happy Mamas on Instagram for your chance to win a super awesome summer gift card! Have fun AND win money? This just might be your best summer yet. Good luck!
