4 Ways To Keep Children's Clothing Clean

As a mom of now 3 children, I’m learning quickly that they love to get dirty. Mud stains, food splotches, and worn out knees jeans tend to run the gamut around my home lately. But, I have figured out some great tricks that all moms can use when cleaning children’s clothing, to keep them looking like new.

4 Ways To Keep Children's Clothing Clean

Wash Like Items

I used to be the mom that threw all of my kids’ clothing in one load of the washing machine and didn’t think twice about separating the type of clothing. Jeans went in with underwear, nice shirts, and everything else. I learned that by separating the clothes, or at least heavy items like sweaters and jeans, you’ll be able to extend the use of several clothing items.

Create a Uniform

My oldest son is all about a uniform. Not the kind that you wear to school, but picking out the same kind of clothing when shopping for new items. Most moms find that their kids tend to stick with the same kind of daily uniform, as well. Take advantage of this. When it’s time for back-to-school shopping, direct your kiddo to the items that fit their style, but will last a while and wash very well. Dark jeans, long- and short- sleeved tees, and even the same kind of socks will all do well, when sorted appropriately, in the washing machine.

Use a Great Detergent

Purchasing great detergent is key to getting out those mud stains from soccer uniforms and keeping those jeans in serviceable condition. OxiClean™ Laundry detergent is the premier solution for removing all types of tough stains from spills, pets, and of course, kids! I love that a product that I used to use as a stain fighter is now a powerful detergent. My kids’ jeans appreciate it too. OxiClean™ Laundry detergent is able help break down and remove a wide range of stains, including the dried-on ones that plague many loads of laundry. We’ve added it to our laundry routine, and I’m so glad that we did.

Let Them Launder

One big secret to cleaning children’s clothing is to have them take charge of their own laundry. After 6 years of doing his own laundry, my son takes pride in the clothes that he wears from day to day. While he still dirties up each piece as much as he can, he loves that he is in charge of getting out that dirt during each laundry session. Responsibility is one of the best ways to get kids to keep their items, including clothes, in great shape.

I hope these tips help you and your children keep their clothing in tip top shape! Do you have any tips to share about laundry time? Share below!

Note: Please follow manufacturer directions for your garments. For best results, pretreat stains with laundry detergent, wait 5-10 minutes and then wash.
