Since the ripe old age of 7, I’ve been obsessed with Disney Parks. My parents took me to Walt Disney World in the middle of August, to save money. We were hot, sticky, and smiling through the whole experience. It was a memorable and magical family vacation, that I still remember almost 25 years later. I was fortunate enough to visit Walt Disney World 7 years in a row after that first trip, and then 10 more times from the age of 17 to 30-ish. Yes, I love my Disney home. But…I was still missing something in my heart.
My parents told me about their honeymoon trip to Disneyland, and I admit that I’ve been jealous over it. A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to attend Disneyland Diamond Celebration, and I’m here to tell you as a Walt Disney World pro, there are things that you just NEED to experience at Disneyland. Here are 5 things to do at Disneyland, if you’re a Disney World pro.
Have a Dole Whip
I know what you Disney World Pros are saying: we have Dole Whips in Orlando. True. There’s something about having a Dole Whip in Disneyland. There are bragging rights involved. You’ll be able to say that you had one of Disney Parks’ most coveted treats on both coasts. I took it to the next level and had a Dole Float, because I’m fancy like that.
Watch Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular
This show isn’t available at Walt Disney World, and it’s truly amazing. I may be bias, since Aladdin is my favorite Disney animated movie, but this show brought me to tears. While I didn’t get to see it during this most recent trip to Disneyland, this on-stage experience at Disney California Adventure is a must-do. Wait until you see Aladdin and Jasmine flying above you! Your face will resemble Niagara Falls.
Watch World of Color
The World of Color nighttime show has been updated for the Disneyland Diamond Celebration. Special effects are projected on a water screen and the Mickey’s Fun Wheel. There’s fire, lots of favorite songs, and Neil Patrick Harris! Anything with NPH has to be good. The 28 minute show was spectacular, and celebrated the man that created the mouse that started it all: Walt Disney.
Ride Indiana Jones Adventure
During my first trip to Disneyland I was a little bit pregnant, so we couldn’t experience Indiana Jones Adventure. This ride was so much fun! If you’re a big Indiana Jones fan, take heed: you’ll want to ride this over and over again. This is yet another attraction that isn’t available at Walt Disney World, so take full advantage of it while you’re on the West Coast.
Experience Sister Attractions
Pirates of The Caribbean, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, it’s a small world, Mad Tea Party, and Haunted Mansion are all great attractions to experience on both coasts. I know these words will cause commotion, but I personally think all of these are better at Disneyland!
Cars Land – Enough Said
Have you ever wanted to be transported into your favorite movie? Well, Cars Land is Disneyland’s magical way of making your dreams come true. I previously wrote about how Cars Land changed my view of Cars, and during this recent trip, that view still holds true. If you don’t find yourself saying “wow” every 5 seconds of your time in California Adventure’s Cars Land, you need a pixie dust injection. If you have the time, visit this section of the park around dusk. The Neon Lights Ceremony and “Sh-Boom” will have you squealing like a child. And that’s OK, because…Disney.
Still on the fence about visiting this year? My friend Sara of Mom Endeavors shares 10 reasons to visit Disneyland for the Diamond Celebration.
Do you plan to visit Disneyland for the Disneyland Diamond Celebration this year? What are you most looking forward to experiencing?
I was invited by Disney to experience the Disneyland Diamond Celebration. All opinions are my own.
This Disneyland veteran agrees with everything here! 🙂 Great post! It was so fun playing tour guide and hanging out with you while we were there!!
I’m so thankful for you, Sara! You rocked as a tour guide, and you allotted time for churros. God bless you lol.
We missed Aladdin and World of Color, but I had my Dole float! I loved Indiana Jones, and the whole Cars experience was phenomenal.
