Military Regulation Hairstyle with Suave®

Sharing is caring!

Once a month, I have to tame my big afro in order to make it into a military regulation hairstyle. Being in the Air National Guard, I have the liberty of showing my personality in my hairstyles most of the time, but when it comes down to putting back on that uniform, I have to obey the rules, while looking presentable. But, that doesn’t mean I have to fully let go of my style. Below, I’m going to share my current favorite military regulation hairstyle, with the help of Suave® Sea Mineral and Luxe Style Infusion Line.

A regulation hairstyle has to be clean, presentable, and well…boring. Yes, I said it! For the most part, regulation hairstyles tend to be very simple. Hair back in a bun, or hair cut short enough that it doesn’t hit the collar of your blouse. But, when you have very thick hair that takes the shape of an afro, you have to think hard about the styles that will work. You need styles that will fit under your “cover” (your hat), that won’t create a bun or even an afro over 3 inches thick, and is slick back. With that said, this is my favorite style for MY hair:

No bobby pins in sight, the hair is tucked in and presentable, and I didn’t have to slick my hair down with gel! With the help of Suave products, I can create this easy style that still shows my personality. I wash my hair with Suave® shampoo and conditioner, and while it’s still wet, I use this:

The Suave® Luxe Style Infusion Smooth Cream is my new favorite thing. My hair doesn’t feel full of product, but it does keep my hair frizz-free for up to 72 hours. I love that my hair doesn’t look unnatural, but I know that it will still look amazing by the end of a 10 or 12 hours shift in my shop. Want to know how I get all that hair in this tight hairstyle? Here’s my secret:

These large elastics are a Godsend for natural girls. I wrap it in two, and place this like a halo over the top of my head. Then, I just tuck my hair into the band. Being a munitions specialist, I need to make sure I’m not stopping in the middle of a building mission to “fix my hair.” This ensures I won’t have to take my hair down until I want to.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, Suave® is donating 10,000 products to the troops overseas. And amen to the fact that you are no longer relegated to just one or two hairstyles. Not all military women have “free-flowing” hair. Sometimes you need other options in order to accommodate other types of hair. I will definitely be sharing this with my troops.
