I’m sharing a secret with you: I need to be a bit healthier. We do a good job of serving the kids healthy meals, and encouraging them to be active, but this mom doesn’t follow the same lifestyle. I eat as healthy as I can, when I DO eat. That’s my big secret. I need to eat more, or at least be a little more savvy with the healthy meals I do eat.
This is why I’m so excited about my partnership with CVS for their #StayHealthyWithCVS campaign. I am being sponsored by CVS/pharmacy for my posts and activities, but all opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
There are a few things I’ve learned about myself this year. The biggest thing is that I need to make being healthy easier for me.
I’ve forced myself to drink more water.
This has been the hardest change for me, especially recently. But, I noticed that my allergies were almost non-existent, I didn’t get sick during the climate change in the fall, and that I just feel healthier when I drink water. I hate to drink it, but it makes me feel better. It’s staying in the picture for the new year.
I pay more attention to what I eat.
I still have to work on eating as much as possible in the new year, but I have noticed what foods make my body happy and give me energy. This has shifted our meal planning a bit, but not by much. As long as I make sure to eat many small meal during the day, I’ll be fine.
I have to supplement.
I’m busy. Super busy. With 3 kids, I always feel like I’m on the go, helping something with something, changing yet another diaper, and feeding another mouth. But, I forget about me. If I can make a habit of supplementing, like using protein powder in a morning smoothie, I can give myself a boost of energy and just feel better. I love that I can find protein powder at CVS now. We don’t have many of those big vitamin stores near us, but we have CVS stores abound. I can walk in, grab more protein powder and a new nail polish, and be on my way. It makes it easy to take care of me, and I appreciate that.
So, that’s my secret. More nourishment, and making time to feed me. I know this little habit will turn into more nourishment of my mind and soul as well. But first…I have to eat. If you see me on social media, you have full permission to ask me if I’ve had my small meals today. If I need to do the same for you, just let me know. OK, Mama?
