It’s no secret that fashion is something I love to study and learn about. With a section on our site dedicated just to fashion, you have to imagine visiting a set and learning about the costumes made my skirt fly up (figuratively).
During our AGENT CARTER set visit, we were able to visit the costume department.
The Brilliance of Gigi Ottobre-Melton
Costume director Gigi Ottobre-Melton shared details about the costume selection for AGENT CARTER Season 2, and showed us costume selections for main characters, including our favorite woman in the red hat, Agent Peggy Carter.
One thing that impressed me is that Gigi and her team spend lots of time looking for vintage pieces for the AGENT CARTER ensemble.
Why is this impressive? Because not only do the actors need these pieces, but their stunt doubles need identical pieces as well.
The team also recycles certain parts of vintage clothing, like buttons that are unique to that time period, or sleeves that can be mended and used in other ways.
Gigi shared some of Peggy Carter’s outfits for Season 2, and you can immediately see the character’s personality and preferences in the selections. We should have guessed Peggy would have a beautiful red dress to wear. Actress Hayley Atwell sure does look classic in red.
Photo Fun On The Agent Carter Set
My favorite outfits were the ones Gigi and her team put together for starlet Whitney Frost a.k.a. Madame Masque. I can’t get over the lilac pieces and accents!
Even though, Madame Masque will be Season 2’s main villain, I’m announcing her as my fashion spirit animal. Plus, villains have more fun.
While we did spend a good amount of time in the costume department, we also viewed the rest of the set. Here are some amazing photos, courtesy of MARVEL, of our visit:
AGENT CARTER SEASON 2 SECRET: In honor of their move to Los Angeles, flamingos are the big Easter Egg for this season. You’ll see them all over the set, in many different ways.
And yes, the red hat is back! I got to model it, along with my Star Wars shirt. I think they look perfect together, don’t you?
