I’m sharing #SausageFamily in my life as part of a Johnsonville sponsored series for Socialstars™
Thank the heavens, it’s finally warm outside! Well, for most of the country. Here in New Jersey, we’re still getting that “warm today, cold tomorrow” spring weather. I’m not letting that keep us from grilling up some of our favorite meals. This Steakhouse Sausage Burger is a great introduction to grilling season, since the Johnsonville Steakhouse Onion Grillers are so flavorful and easy to cook.
As soon as I saw there was a steakhouse version of the Johnsonville Grillers, I knew I had to pair it with one of the best steakhouse sides: creamy spinach. Herbed cream cheese helps with bringing the smoothness to the burger, and the swiss cheese give a added tang that you would taste in creamed spinach. My mouth is watering!
Place the Grillers on your grill, and let grill on the first side for about 7 minutes. The Grillers are not already cooked, so you will have to make sure that they are cooked.
If you’re cooking these on your outdoor grill, close the lid and cook on medium-low heat. If you cook them on a grill pan on your stove, just cover them with a lid.
Flip and cook for 7 or 8 more minutes, again, covered until cooked through. Look at those grill marks. Oh Mylanta!
Once the Johnsonville Grillers are cooked, at a slice of swiss cheese to the top. That heat will make the cheese all melted and gooey. I’m drooling again!
Don’t forget to use that residual heat from the grill to toast your buns. Toasty buns are the best.
Add fresh spinach to the top of the Griller, and spread a generous amount of herbed cream cheese to the top of your bun. Squish. Bite. Enjoy.
I love that the Johnsonville Grillers provide so much more flavor than a regular hamburger. The juicy interior mingled with the cream cheese, spinach, and cheese and made this the perfect springtime burger. You have to try it.

6 Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns
1/2 cup Herbed Cream Cheese
1 Cup Fresh Spinach

These look delicious! I love your spin on the Johnsonville Grillers!
Thanks, Val!
I’m coming over for dinner!! What can I bring??!
Yourself! 😀
Herbed cream cheese. Why yes! 🙂
I had to make it extra fancy! Ha!
These look delicious! I’ve never tried cream cheese (let alone herbed cream cheese) on a burger, so I’ve definitely got to give it a shot on the next meal I pull off the grill. Thanks for sharing.
It was a great addition, John! I hope you enjoy it.
