I feel like there’s this hidden community of constant travelers. Maybe it isn’t so hidden, but the tips and tricks that these people know and share with one another seem to stay within their circle. With all of the travel I’ve been doing for work, I feel like one of these community members now.
Do I know how to get through TSA in 5 minutes? Yup. Can I pack for a 3 day trip in just a duffle bag? I sure can. But my most favorite tips come from my food “issues.” I love food so much that I need to have it with me at all times when I travel. Why? Because I like to keep my energy up when I travel. Also, I just love to eat. Could you tell by all the recipes I have on my website? Of course you could. I always pack snacks when I travel, and there are a few reasons why.
Prepare For Delays
I’ve unfortunately been stuck in airports before. One of my biggest anxiety attacks was when I ended up stuck for hours in an airport, with no updates as to when we would be getting home, or if we needed to stay overnight. Like, no update whatsoever. If I didn’t have a few snacks with me during that drama, I would have lost it completely. I felt exhausted just thinking about being stuck in a state far away from my family, so I needed sustenance to keep me focused. Delays = lots of snacks.
Buy Water – Bring Snacks
Since we aren’t allow to bring our own drinks through TSA, that means we have no choice but to buy them on our way to our gates. Since have to spend 6 bucks on bottled water, I’d like to bring my own cheap snacks. This offsets my travel budget a bit. I have even been known to bring my own homemade lunch on the flight. It’s healthier and cheaper!
I Like Healthy Snacks
The older I get, the more I understand why snacks need to be healthy. My body responds well to snacks that have “good” ingredients, rather than those snacks that make me feel like my body is being filled with grease. That bag of chips will only satisfy me for about 30 minutes, then I’ll be hungry again. I’ve been so happy to travel with CVS Abound snacks lately. The Blueberry & Pomegranate Superfruit Snack Bars have been my savior lately, and I love that I don’t need to eat a bunch to feel satisfied. If I pair a bar with a healthy meal, I feel like I can tackle any travel issues that may come up. Snacks are life, y’all!
