As a Wendy’s ambassador, I’m excited to share this sponsored post with you. All opinions and drool-worthy experiences are my own.
Have you ever been in love with something that wasn’t a person? Like, a food or special meal? Yeah, me too. Each summer, I sit patiently and wait for Wendy’s to release their summer salad. I wait, I wait and wait some more. I sometimes wish they would release it in the spring, because waiting is excruciating, but I understand why they don’t, and didn’t this year. Summer. Berry. Chicken. Salad. The reason is in the name.
But, oh man. When I finally see the huge sign at my local Wendy’s I shed one single tear in celebration. The NEW Summer Berry Chicken Salad is here, guys!
You may be asking why I get so excited about their summer salads. Well, we travel quite a bit in the summer. Road trips to see the in-laws who live 2 states away, trips to amusement parks, festivals, or vacations. They all start with a long car ride. While fast food is an option, I’d rather eat the healthier options if possible. Wendy’s is always a stop for us on road trips, and I love being able to order a fresh Summer Berry Chicken Salad on the road. It makes my stomach happy.
This year, the berry of the moment are blackberries, with the former star berry, strawberries, as a back-up singer. When we visited Wendy’s headquarters during our Wendy’s ambassadorship trip, we were told that the company has spent 2 years sourcing farmers to grow the blackberries, and instilling the same high quality standards they use for all of their produce to make sure the berries would be ready for this one summer. 2 years of planning and growing for one summer. That’s serious salad business! There’s even a blackberry vinaigrette to accompany the salad. Yes, it’s delicious. So are the apple chips.
Please don’t get it twisted. I eat this salad when I’m at home, too. Some days I’m out and about, forget to eat lunch, and need something healthy and fast. Summer Berry Chicken Salad to the rescue. I’ve decided to not think about what I’ll do once summer is over. Let’s not talk about it right now.
Um, I also got a side of these. Wendy’s fries are my pleasure, almost as much as this salad.
