I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of creating wardrobes for my little ones. I’ve done it for 11 years so far, and it just won’t get old. Recently, I realized I have a toddler that loves clothes. He’s all about outfits, or nothing. Seriously. If I can’t put together a cute outfit for him, he’ll refuse to wear clothes and rock the diaper for the day. It’s even better to use staples like to make these outfits, because they work so well together, are affordable, and look so dang adorable! Here are our tips sharing how to make a toddler boy fall wardrobe, without breaking the bank.
Buy more shirts than pants
Here’s the thing: kids are messy. Boys, in particular, are messy. By stocking up on shirts or for your baby or toddler, you’ll ensure that you have extras for those messy spaghetti lunches, or that time they decide to wipe their nose with their sleeve. Yes, that happens a lot with toddlers. Plus, if you select fun tops, like the dinosaur one James is wearing, you can pair it with any bottom you want.
Stick with standard bottoms
There’s a reason jeans and dark pants are always a staple for everyone, not just toddler boy fall wardrobe. They go with EVERYTHING! Remember how I said to buy more shirts than bottoms? That’s because you’re going to stock up on intentional pants for your toddler boy. We love fleece bottoms. sweatpants, and a trusty pair of jeans. And standard doesn’t have to be boring. Camo fleece pants are a staple in a toddler boy’s wardrobe because they can go with any top you part them with. We also love a gray pair of sweatpants. The stains don’t show as much!
Make a list
The one thing we love to do is shop for our babies. We love to do it so much, that we tend to see all the cute things and buy them. Then, we look at our bank account and wonder where all the money went. Here’s the best way to handle that: make a list of what you need. This works because you not only stick to your list, but you’re able to keep an eye out on sales that include everything on your list. It gives you a chance to wait until you find deals, or go ahead and purchase, but not go overboard. A great list for a toddler boy fall wardrobe, that can be under $50 is as follows:
- 7 shirts and/or
- 4 bottoms (sweatpants, jeans, fleece pants)
- Jacket with fleece lining
- Sturdy shoes or boots (we got those cute brown ones from Carter’s!)
- 2 winter caps
- 2 pair of gloves
