We are a musical family. We not only love to listen to music, but we have a few family members that are musically inclined. I spent most of my young life in choirs, and have always loved to sing. My husband plays 7 instruments, and has produced his own albums and music for other artists.
The kids? Well, they are still trying to feel out what they want to explore musically. Our girl is such a sweet singer. Our oldest boy is a whiz at memorizing beats. He can drum and beatbox like nobody’s business. The baby is actually a sweet little singer as well, and learns the words to songs pretty quickly. Are 2 year olds supposed to do that? I have no clue.
But, when we sat down to read Word of Mouse together, and came across this quote, I knew it would forever be our words to live by from then on:
“When the music changes, so does the dance.”
That quote in chapter 39 put a ping in my heart. We’ve had so many changes in music during our time as a family. Hardships, births, deaths, big moves. The music has changed each time, and within each change, we’ve learned a new dance. A new way to glide through life. Some musical numbers need a hard B-Boy stance, while some deserve a waltz. Some just need to to let loose and jump; jump as high as you can and smile as wide as your mouth can handle. That’s the dance we’re currently experiencing.
My kids took to Word of Mouse immediately. It’s a wonderful book about a mouse named Isaiah, and the life lessons he learns during a very special journey.
Isaiah had to create his own dance, just like my kids.

No matter how hard life gets, never stop smiling!
Life motto- still working on that. Realizing more and more how important it is to zero in on what I’m about! For now, I would say “Loving my God and loving my people in what I say and do.”

Sing in the rain. Even in the hard times, there is joy if you look for it.
Just keep swimming!
In remembering to continue to have faith and patience, my life’s motto is “The Will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.”
The motto I’ve clung to since high school:
“All things work together for good to them that love God.”
We love music too! 🙂
