Finding fun summer activities for tweens can be tough – they are in the stage of hating everything. Here are some fun things that may even crack a smile.
This post was sponsored by AMC Theatres and Coca-Cola. The opinions are completely my own and based on my experiences.
We love to take our kiddos out on parent/child getaways. Whether it’s a weekend away, or a quick trip to the movies, it’s important for us to spend quality time with them. I have to admit, these little trips increase during the summer, especially with our soon-to-be teenager.
The summer months seem to go faster the older our kids get. With our eldest son, they go the fastest. I remember being a teenager, and having my dad whisk me away to the movies on hot summer days. It was a time when we were able to decide on a movie (usually the summer sci-fi blockbuster), grab a Coke and a popcorn, and spend quality time together. Summer is the perfect time to make memories with your teens, and my dad knew it.
This is also the time of year when it’s almost too hot to go outside, so he’s all about having fun inside. Our favorite inside fun is watching a good movie. We load up the family, visit our local AMC Theatre, and beat the heat with a good movie experience.
These experiences are even better when I can steal some time with my boy. I know soon enough, he’ll want to have these teenage outings to the movies all by himself, or with his friends. Summer is when teenagers rush to the movie theaters to hang out, snack, and (eventually), watch a film. But, this summer, I’ve decided to make this our special time together.
We buy our tickets, and head straight to the concession stand. With a refreshing Frozen ICEE Coke in one hand, and a bag of popcorn in the other, we find the best seats possible for two hours of fun.
Getting a popcorn and ice cold Coke is an essential for our mother/son movie-going experience. For our most recent trip, we used an exclusive $5 teen promotion from Coca-Cola and AMC Theatres, which includes a delicious Frozen ICEE Coke and cameo size popcorn at our local AMC Theatre. What a perfect addition to our time at the theatre!
Insiders Tip: you can get this deal too by clicking this link: amc.coke.com/blo3. Don’t forget to keep this offer saved to your mobile wallet, even after the deal expires on 7/30. Coke and AMC are constantly releasing new, teen-friendly offers, and you’ll be the first to know!
I love my kiddo to the moon and back, and I realize that he won’t be a kid for much longer. This time together is precious, and I’m so glad we get to have it at the theatre.
The promotion says you have to show your student id to get the combo. What if you homeschool your child and they don’t have a student id?
We homeschool, Bebe, and we didn’t have to show our card. I would chat with the manager of your local AMC Theatre, so they can take care of you.
Awesome,thanks for sharing 🙂
