Dreams really do come true, especially when it comes to attending a red carpet event for a Disney film. The A Wrinkle In Time Red Carpet was actually blue, which made every single person feel like they were walking on air. I was able to attend this event as part of the #WrinkleInTimeEvent, and couldn’t believe all of the beautiful celebrities that were in attendance.
We were able to watch A Wrinkle In Time a few days before the red carpet, but I was extremely excited to watch it again during the world premiere at the El Capitan Theater. Why? Because…celebrities! The entire cast of A Wrinkle In Time was in attendance, as well as their very supportive celebrity friends. From Jay-Z and Beyoncé, to Winston Duke and Issa Rae, I almost felt starstruck by it all. To be on a carpet (and attend one of the coolest after-parties) with these amazing people was everything. EVERYTHING.
As an influencer, we know that attending a red carpet event put together by Disney will always mean we’ll be included in a bit of history. It also means that we’ll get to be in the background of some interviews, photos, and other kinds of fun. It was cool to see the back of my dress (that I rented from Rent The Runway, btw) in this interview with Jennifer Lee, who produced and wrote the screenplay for A Wrinkle In Time:
A Wrinkle In Time After Party
It was a rainy night, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves during the after-party. There were cute little A Wrinkle In Time activities for guests to enjoy, as well as complimentary jewelry from the film’s sponsor Alex and Ani, and complimentary makeup from another sponsor, Elizabeth Arden. I saw quite a few celebrities quietly waiting in line for their swag, which made me smile. Swag is universal!
While many of my friends persevered to get their selfies with Oprah that night, I was determined to get one with Mindy Kaling. I’ve always been a big fan of hers, and I admire how she lives her live and does what she loves. I ended up being her last picture of the night, and once we were done I thanked her and told her to go home and kiss her sweet baby. She’s a new mama and told us that she was on her way home to spend some time with her daughter. How sweet!
I also had the opportunity to chat with Winston Duke, the breakout star of Black Panther. I asked him if he remembered talking with us during our exclusive interview with him last month, and he most definitely did. I told him how proud we were of him, and everything he’s been doing since the Black Panther premiere. It was so refreshing to have a heartfelt conversation with this superstar who is so grateful for everything that’s happening to him. Then, he grabbed my phone and took our selfie. He’s a gem!
This will be a night I’ll never forget. From seeing the whole cast of Blackish running around and having a good time, to watching Black Panther Ryan Coogler hug on his wife, and laugh with his dear friend, director Ava DuVernay, it was a memory that will last a lifetime.
