I love being a creative. There are so many ideas that pop into my head, it’s almost overwhelming. A long time ago, I thought I could one day be a painter. I worked with charcoal and acrylic, I had an easel, and I allowed myself get dirty within the process. It was glorious. The ironic part was, I wasn’t any good. While it was fun to play, the end results of that time was ugly pictures that didn’t look like anything. It was comical. So, when were told that we would participate in a sip and paint experience to celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release of Lady and the Tramp, I just about cackled.
We started the night at Maggiano’s, enjoying a family style Italian meal together, which of course included a spaghetti dinner and the most delicious arancini I’ve ever had. We laughed until we cried, and had a wonderful time. All the while, thinking about what this painting experience would include.
Once we arrived at Paint and Sip Studio L.A., I couldn’t wait to see how this would go. I knew we had to have some great painters in the mix, and I was fine with not being in that group. My goal for the evening? Not giving up. Well, good news: I didn’t.
Look how intense I was about painting this picture, you guys! It was a big of a difficult picture to tackle as a novice painter who was semi-delirous from a long day, but I didn’t quit until they said we were out of time.
I absolutely loved that this was our activity to celebrate the new release of Lady and the Tramp on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital. It reminded me of the film. Unexpected experiences and fun, with a little time spent outside of your comfort zone, just like Lady endured. It always makes you a better being in the end.
While I chose to NOT bring my painting home with me (it was horrific, y’all), it truly enjoyed every minute of this. From the singing we did during our session, to learning the proper way to mix colors and paint shadows, it was all fun.
Speaking of fun, Lady and the Tramp is now available to purchase! With this release, we’re able to watch this classic film three ways — Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital. If you haven’t added Lady and the Tramp to your Disney movie collection, today’s the day! Grab it here, or at your local store. Make a spaghetti dinner for your family this weekend, then sit down and watch Lady and the Tramp together. It’ll be a fun family activity you won’t forget.
