The A Wrinkle In Time event was a whirlwind of fun, excitement, and so much more. One of my favorite parts was being able to spend quality time with Bellamy Young, our favorite fictional president from Scandal. Bellamy was our last interview of the day, and had us all on cloud nine by the end of our time with her. I quickly added a few more reasons to love Bellamy Young, even though as a scandal fan, I already had a pretty long list.

Bellamy Is All About Comfort

When asked Bellamy is she’s about #ThatSuitLife off screen, she gave us a big no way. She said she’s all about the “comfort pants” during her down time, and joked that it cost at least a thousand dollars whenever a woman has to leave the house because of all the makeup and trendy clothing we have to rock just to go to the grocery store.

Mellie Deserves Love – But May Not Get It

Bellamy has played the amazing flawed Mellie Grant for 7 seasons of Scandal. I just had to ask her if she thought her character deserved love after enduring so much over these past years. She shared with us that “deserves” is a tough word, but she does wish it for Mellie. Bellamy says the only problem  is it would be hard for Mellie to do what’s needed in a relationship, so finding love may not happen for her. Yes, even with Marcus.

“Do I want it for her?  I do.  Just because I have a deep fondness for her light and fire, and I’m just so proud of her; she got her dream.  But do I see her putting in the deep and honest work to have a reciprocating relationship?  No, I don’t.”

Bellamy’s Taking The Presidential Pen

When asked what prop she hopes to take with her once Scandal wraps, Bellamy says she’s taking the Presidential pen! She plans to sign all of her checks for every bill with her collection of Presidential pens. Ha!

“I’m going to write with a presidential pen for the rest of my life.  I’m gonna take them all.”

She’s Elated About Scandal The Crossover Episode

When asked what she thought about Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder having crossover episodes, Bellamy shared the excitement she felt when she realized she’d get to work with the amazing Viola Davis.

“The story is so immaculate. It just had to happen. I got to act with Viola Davis, ya’ll. There was other stuff happening that day, and it was right before Christmas. I was trying to plan to get out to North Carolina and it was like, ‘I cannot focus on this, because I have a day with Viola Davis.’ I can’t wait to see how it turned out.”
