A long time ago, in a state far, far away, I attended the most intergalactic red carpet and world premiere ever. The SOLO: A Star Wars Story world premiere and red carpet event was truly awesome, and it was so cool to attend, especially since the red carpet, premiere and after party for Star Wars films are usually closed to press.
It was almost surreal to actually SEE George Lucas, Ron Howard, Donald Glover, Mark Hamill, Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, and Emilia Clarke walk the carpet right in front of me.
We were greeted with a full-size mock-up of the Millennium Falcon! It was huge, you guys. I couldn’t believe they created such an iconic ship right in the middle of Los Angeles. It was definitely a show stopper.
I decided to wear a Hyperspace themed dress, and got so many compliments from fellow red carpet attendees. Fans recognize fans. This was also a big celebration since this was the world premiere of SOLO: A Star Wars Story. The cast and crew hadn’t seen the full film yet, so this night was set for excitement. You could feel the energy in the Dolby Theater as every one took their seats, and waited.
One great moment was watching George Lucas and his family trying to find their seats. As their attendee searched the rows and lead the family around the theater, those of us who were already seated clapped hysterically for the creator of a saga we’ve all loved for decades. It was an amazing moment, even though Mr. Lucas seemed embarrassed about all of the applause.
The after-party was super fun, with lots of opportunities for fun photos, and celebrities abound. I even caught two of our favorite Jedis, Mark Hamill and Ewan McGregor, having a lovely conversation during the party. I had to share the video on Twitter, because…two Jedis at one table, you guys! You never know what those two might have up their Jedi robe sleeves.
The night was majestic and overwhelming. I still can’t believe I was able to attend this once-in-a-lifetime event.
I also can’t wait to share my review of SOLO: A Star Wars Story, especially for parents wondering if they should take their kids. Come back tomorrow for my full write-up and recommendation.
