The Rookie cast is full of good-looking and amazingly nice people, and we got to spend time with them during a phenomenal set visit. During the Ralph Breaks The Internet Event, we were treated to a the Rookie set visit, and here’s the kicker: we didn’t know what cast members we’d meet.
Before I give you the full scoop, let me tell you all about The Rookie (in case you haven’t been watching).
What Is The Rookie?
Starting over isn’t easy, especially for small-town guy John Nolan who, after a life-altering incident, is pursuing his dream of being a Los Angeles police officer. As the force’s oldest rookie, he’s met with skepticism from some higher-ups who see him as just a walking midlife crisis. If he can’t keep up with the young cops and the criminals, he’ll be risking lives including his own. But if he can use his life experience, determination and sense of humor to give him an edge, he may just become a success in this new chapter of his life. Nathan Fillion plays John Nolan, and does such an excellent job. I can’t stop watching!
The Rookie Cast
When we arrived to the set, we were able to sit in these cool The Rookie director seats, and watch the cast and crew prep for filming. We had to be extra quiet, of course, but it was so fun to see them take their places, and go through their lines. We were told that we wouldn’t know what cast members would be there, but we were told that Mercedes Mason, who plays Zoe Anderson, would be taking us around the set and spending time with us. She was so sweet and fun.
But, here’s the surprise: more of the cast was there! Nathan Fillion, Afton Williamson (who plays Talia Bishop), and Richard T. Jones (who plays Wade Grey) were walking the hall sets and took the time to chat with us and take photos! It was a dream! Nathan even gave us the scoop on which rooms got the hottest during filming, what it’s like to hang out with the cast (lots of pranks), and cracked a few jokes to make us laugh.
While I am a big Castle and Firefly fan and loved seeing Nathan, I was almost beside myself when I spotted Afton Williamson. She is so talented, and so beautiful! I asked for a selfie and she produced the best selfie I’ve ever be in to date. Ha! I love seeing the interaction between Afton and Nathan on The Rookie, because they are the total opposite but must learn to work together as partners.
The Rookie Set Is Full of Pranks
The most fun we had on set was finding out about all the pranks they play on one another. Mercedes admitted that she is the biggest prankster, constantly playing them on Richard. Even during our tour, she took a minute to tell him that he smelled like poo! I was dying! She writes little notes on props that she knows Richard will see during his scenes, just to fluster him. I want Mercedes to be my new best friend.
We had an absolute blast touring The Rookie set. It was fun to hop into a show I love to watch.
