This past week, I had the pleasure of attending the Mary Poppins Returns red carpet and after-party, and boy was it a lot of fun! The film was full of magic and whimsy, and so was the red carpet.
I decided to go classic with my red carpet dress, and stick to a lovely plum color, perfect for a visit to Cherry Tree Lane. Can you believe I got it from Amazon? They have it in a bunch of different colors, and it’s under $50!
There were lamplighters and balloon ladies galore on the red carpet. They really wanted to get us in the mood for a memorable movie experience.
Can we talk about the lighting on this red carpet? I just couldn’t get enough of it! I was taking selfies like a crazy person. Ha!
We spotted celebrities left and right. Matt Damon walked right past us before we entered the theater, and I kicked myself for not having my camera ready for a photo. Since Mary Poppins Returns is a family film, there were lots of celebrity families in attendance. It was sweet to see some of my favorite movie and TV stars enjoying their time with their little ones.
My favorite part of the red carpet? Experiencing it with my best friend! We’ve been lucky enough to experience 2 other red carpet events together this year, so this was truly a blessing. The Mary Poppins Returns after-party took things to the next level. After leaving the Dolby Theater, we made our way to the party and were greeted by sweets, a 3-string band, jugglers, and all kinds of fun activities to bring us back to childhood.
I’m a BIG cotton candy/candy floss fan, so it was exciting to see them making everyone fresh cotton candy. My dreams came true!
Throughout the room, we were able to see the actual costumes from Mary Poppins Returns on display. The costumes in this film are going to blow your mind. They were so intricate and lovely. What an amazing night. The feeling of the red carpet and after-party complimented the feelings we all experienced while watching Mary Poppins Returns. I can’t wait for you to see it.
