Easter On A Budget

Hey, did you know Easter is in a few hours? Yeah, me neither. I totally forgot! Since I have been going non-stop with work, and haven’t even thought about the Easter dinner I need to make, I had to quickly figure out how to do Easter on a budget.

There isn’t much to making a phenomenal Easter dinner. Ham, sides, and maybe a delicious dessert. The big trick for our family is getting everything you need for Easter dinner in one place, and at a VERY tight budget. I gave myself a $25 grocery budget for Easter. Yup, you read that right.

I got up at the crack of dawn, and took a voyage to my local Save-A-Lot. I knew I could find everything I needed in one place, and easily stick to my price point.

Look at all this, you guys! I got the ham, green beans, carrots, mushrooms, crescent rolls, milk and even butter. Oh, I totally snagged a few boxes of boxed mashed potatoes.

Did I mention I needed all things easy for Easter? Plus, the mashed potatoes were part of the Save-A-Lot Easter Super Sale in the weekly ad for the holiday, so the price made me very happy.

The smoked ham was only .79 a pound, and I know this will last us for a few days. $9 for a protein that we’ll eat for at least 3 days makes my frugal heart happy.

OK, listen. I totally forgot to get the kids Easter candy. I know. Fail! But, I was so glad to see lots of chocolate options at Save-A-Lot. I even got myself some Hershey’s Cookies & Cream, because I got my shopping in early and deserved a reward.

I have to admit the candy took me over my budget, but it was worth it! I couldn’t let the kids start their Easter celebration without their candy.
