4 Best Parts of Magic Kingdom’s Villains After Hours

Sharing is caring!

June 6th was the first evening of Disney’s Villains After Hours in Magic Kingdom, and Disney invited me to experience it’s inaugural night. There were so many best parts of Villains After Hours, but I knew I had to focus on the items that gave you the best bang for you buck.

3 Hours and 20 Attractions

One tip I give families looking to visit Walt Disney World is to focus on the experiences. Hard ticket events like Villains After Hours provide you a bit of breathing room for experiencing the park with lighter crowds and fun perks.

If your kids can hang from 10pm to 1am, attending this event and riding as many attractions as possible is the way to go.

Our family rarely does rope drop at the Walt Disney World parks, so events like Villains After Hours and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are when we get to have all of our fun. And yes, we budget for it, because we take full advantage of those hours of fun.

Pro Tip: While the event starts at 10pm, you will have access to the park at 7pm. Use those extra hours to have a meal at a quick service place, visit characters, or enjoy attractions with low wait times.

Villains After Hours Inspired Space Mountain

Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain is my favorite attraction ever (until Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opens), so when I heard there was going to be a Space Mountain overlay, I squealed.

Let me tell you: this was one of the best experiences of the night. I’ve ridden Space Mountain hundreds of times since I was 7, and this was the first time it scared me in the BEST way.

The villains inspired Pirates of the Caribbean was just as fun, because who doesn’t love to be surprised by a live Barbosa while sailing the seven seas? Make sure to make time to ride both of these attractions.

All The Free Snacks

Free is the best, right? I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were complimentary snacks during Villains After Hours because I love snacks, and snacks love me.

Free bottled water, bottled soda (coke, diet coke, and sprite), popcorn, Mickey ice cream sandwiches, Mickey ice cream bar, and strawberry bar.

If you use the pro tip I shared above about quick service dinner, and combine that with these free snacks, there is no way anyone in you family will be hungry during Villains After Hours.

Pro Tip: Remember to grab a water (or two) to go before the event is over, and take it back to your room. Bring a tote with you to hold your drinks. We always add a small tote to our park book bag for merchandise purchases and collection of freebies. This tote is a funny one to use to collect your free snacks: Baller On A Budget Tote

Villains After Hours Merchandise for days

If you’re going to save money to purchase Disney Parks merchandise, you have to get the exclusive merch shared during Villains After Hours. You all know I was smitten with the mugs and tees that were all over.

There are event-themed, limited merchandise, plus a curated collection of Villains must-haves that I loved seeing in the stores. I’m a big fan of Jafar, so the Jafar tees and phone case had my heart immediately.

Bonus Fun: Villains On Display at Main Street U.S.A. Train Station

I had to add this fun little experience, but it was such a great way to enjoy the villains. While there aren’t any meet-and-greets during Villains After Hours, all of our favorite villains greet us at the Main Street U.S.A. train station, and put on a bit of a show.

The evil stepsisters and the Queen of Hearts were chatting up a storm when we were on our way out of the park, and they made it so difficult to leave! So funny, and snide. Perfect way to end a full night with villains.
