Star Wars on Disney+ – Your Complete Guide

Sharing is caring!

With the launch of the new streaming platform Disney+, Disney fans (like our family) will have lots of decisions to make.

If you’re new to our website, you may not know that we are big Star Wars fans. Like, it’s almost a sickness. So, we came up with the idea of a Star Wars Disney Plus week-long celebration in our home, once it launches.

A week long of watching Star Wars content on Disney+? Yes. The great news is that during the first day of Disney+, we will have 19 different films, shows, and documentaries to watch.

Star Wars and Disney Plus - what a perfect combination! This post shares all the Star Wars content available on Disney+ during launch day.

This post will be your complete guide to Star Wars on Disney+.

And don’t worry; we’ll be sure to update the post as more Star Wars content is released on the platform. You know we’ll be stalking, I mean researching any new additions.

The Mandalorian – Live Action Series

This may be the most anticipated series on the platform. The Mandalorian will be the first live-action Star Wars series. This almost Western-like, visually stunning saga takes place 5 years after The Return of the Jedi. It will contain new characters, stories, creatures and worlds.

During Star Wars Celebration, we covered what Executive Producer and writer Jon Favreau had to say about the show. Be sure to check out our Disney+ and The Mandalorian blog post for all the details.

With less than a month left until Star Wars: The Force Awakens, let's talk about the 2015 to 2019 Star Wars movie line-up from Lucasfilm.

Star Wars Movies on Disney+

At least 2 days of our Star Wars Disney Plus week will be dedicated to all of the iconic films. From A New Hope to The Force Awakens, we’re getting all of our favorites at one time.

While Star Wars: The Last Jedi and SOLO: A Star Wars Story won’t be on the platform during launch day, they will be added at a later date.

Here’s the full list of Star Wars movies that will be available on Disney+ during launch day:

  • Star Wars: A New Hope
  • Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
  • Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
  • Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
  • Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
  • Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  • Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Star Wars Documentaries on Disney Plus

As a big documentary buff, I’m pretty excited to see that Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy will be available on Disney+. If you’ve never seen this documentary, you’re in for a treat. It was released in 2004, and documents the making of the original Star Wars trilogy.

I’m sure as time goes on, Disney+ will release even more Star Wars documentaries to the platform. As they are released, we will update this list.

Star Wars Specials Worth Adding To Disney+

OK, am I the only one who’s a little bummed that we won’t get the Star Wars Holiday Special on Disney+? This kitschy but fun show from 1978 is a fan favorite, and I was sure Disney would give us a little wink by adding it to the Disney+ platform.

Here’s hoping they add it eventually because…we all need that holiday special in our lives forever and ever.
