Sharing is caring!

Canned pineapple is a pantry staple for our family, and rightly so! There are so many genius ways to used canned pineapple. We’re sharing our favorites in this post.

Why canned pineapple instead of fresh or frozen?

We enjoy canned pineapple because it’s so versatile. Whether you get the tidbits, chunks, rings, or crushed pineapple, they can all be used in so many ways.

Since I’m allergic to fresh pineapple, the only way I can get my fix is through the canned version. So, I have created an embarrassing amount of recipes from canned pineapple. It’s only natural.

We do stock frozen pineapple in the freezer during the summer, for smoothies. But, truthfully, very cold canned pineapple can be a great substitute for frozen pineapple.

Pineapple On Top of Pork

Oh, this isn’t a surprise to you? Yeah, me neither. Ha! Pineapple and pork go together like peas and carrots, peanut butter and jelly, and all of our favorite food duos.

Besides putting pineapple rings on top of ham, we love making pork loin in the slow cooker. Crushed pineapple and a team of amazing pantry staples, like red pepper flakes, make this a consistent winner.

Trust me. That combination will blow your mind. It’s a recipe I use quite a bit when the weather gets cooler.

Pineapple In Your Cobbler

Yup, I totally did it. I’ve always loved my slow cooker peach cobbler recipe, so substituting peaches for pineapple just made sense.

Actually, I hadn’t purchased peaches all summer, but was craving cobbler. The canned pineapple saved me.

I had to adjust the recipe a bit to work with the already cooked pineapple, but it was so delectable. You have to give it a try, if you love cobbler and pineapple.

Make It Into Salsa

OK, before you try the recipe I created, please note it is VERY hot. Spicy pineapple salsa is exactly what I was going for, but even my spice-loving husband said it was up there on the “head on fire” level.

This made me very happy. If you want to give it a try, remember to take the seeds out of the pepper. Actually, only put half of the pepper in the Instant Pot.

Or the whole pepper. Whatever. Live dangerously, friend.

Use Canned Pineapple Under Chicken Thighs

Hi. My name is Amiyrah, and I have a pineapple paired with meat condition.

As if the pineapple on top of pork tenderloin wasn’t enough, I had to try it under roasted chicken thighs.

This Pineapple Chicken recipe is another easy one, but it packs so much flavor! I use pineapple rings for this dinner.

The rings caramelize underneath the chicken thighs, especially when using a cast iron skillet. I also marinate the chicken in the pineapple juice from the can.

Once you taste it, you’ll never be the same.

In A Cake Without Eggs

This recipe is an oldie but a goodie. I created it when we were dead broke, and eggs were something we couldn’t afford to use all willy nilly in a dessert.

So, I found a way to make a cake without eggs. Pineapple was always in the pantry, so I placed it on the bottom. This cake is still a family favorite.

Did you know canned pineapple rings are fantastic on the grill?

Because they are already cooked, you don’t have to keep them on the grill for long. Also, they caramelize beautifully.

We love to grill them and place them on top of our homemade turkey burgers.

There’s something about the combination of a turkey burger and pineapple that just screams summer.
