Baked Cheeseburger Sliders With Ground Beef

This recipe is one of the best ways to make cheeseburgers in a casserole form. Why? Because all you do is brown up the ground beef.

No need to turn the beef into patties. No need to touch the ground meat, if you don’t like touching ground beef.

You add some essential ingredients when you brown the ground beef, and you’ll be shocked with how delicious this baked cheeseburger recipe turns out.

Here’s a quick list of ingredients:

Using Hamburger Buns In A Casserole

My kids loved this recipe because of the use of the hamburger buns in the casserole dish.

They had never seen cheeseburgers made this way, and they enjoyed the fun of a buttered hamburger bun.

I used these buns because I bought quite a bit for Labor Day, and I wanted to use them up. I’m so glad I decided to take our usual loose meat sandwich recipe, and turn it into this.

Remember to butter the buns! Basting the top of the hamburger buns with butter gives them such a delectable crunch.

If you have poppy seeds in the pantry, you can even add them to the top. What a fancy cheeseburger slider casserole idea!

Where Are The Veggies?

Oh, vegetables! If you are looking to add some veggies to this recipe, one of the easiest ways is to serve with a side salad and pickle.

You can also add sliced pickles on top of the ground beef and shredded cheese before baking the casserole.

We decided to place shredded lettuce on top of each slider, and everyone got to add a drizzle of ketchup and mustard if they wanted.

I totally prefer eating it this way, since it looks cool and you can add at much lettuce as you want.

Plus, a pickle on the side of the slider just feels right when it comes to enjoying a serving of cheeseburger casserole.

What Substitutions Can I Use?

This cheeseburger recipe is great with substitutions.

If you have no worcestershire, soy sauce works just as well. You can use stone ground mustard or yellow mustard, instead of the brown mustard.

Heck, you can even leave out the garlic powder, if that’s not your jam.

Can I make this a different way?

The key to this recipe is the way it’s made. It’s essentially a ground beef casserole recipe, so the use of a casserole dish is needed.

If you want to substitute it with shredded pork, or even shredded beef, you’ll still have a great option for a busy weeknight dinner.

I love the classics, but recently discovered adding crispy onions (like the ones you top green bean casserole with) and the French onion dip (the sour cream and onion soup mix dip) on a burger it’s yummmmm!

Yum! My favorite burger toppings (besides the burger & seasoning- I use Wahlburgers, which I find at Meijer, and a blend of Steak & Shake seasoning and Longhorn steakhouse seasoning) are a fried egg, bacon, and French’s crispy fried onions. I usually go with a brioche, pretzel, or some other deluxe bun. 🤤

I’m very basic when it comes to my burgers – no cheese! I go with ketchup and relish (Mt Olive). Sometimes I’ll add red onions if I’m at my brother’s because his wife always adds them to her burgers (I’m too lazy to cut them up myself)

Burgers are one of my favorite date night meals! My favorite topping is a tie between peanut butter and pickles! Also, I need to try sliders because I do not like touching raw hamburger – probably why I don’t make meatloaf a lot and when I do I use gloves LOL!

I remember loose meat sandwiches as a child. I will have to try this version with my family. My usual topping on a burger is a combination of mayo and Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce. I put a dollop of each on the inside of the empty bun, squish the halves together, open, and then put the burger inside. A burger with mayo alone is good. A burger with SBR alone is good. But using both is like 1+1=3.

I love adding Thai Sweet Chili Sauce mixed with a dash of Memphis dry rub and pineapple rings to burgers.
