Easy Yogurt Pancakes Recipe

This easy yogurt pancakes recipe is a new family favorite for us, thanks to swapping our usual dairy for Dannon Plain Yogurt.

Creating A Tender Pancake With Yogurt

This yogurt pancake recipe is a great twist on the usual pancakes you may make.

Because yogurt often contains less lactose than some other dairy products, like milk, it is often an easier to digest alternative. That’s a win for everyone.

The ingredients definitely make these fluffy pancakes a crowd-pleaser, and one secret ingredient takes it over the top:

  • Dannon Plain Yogurt (available at Meijer)
  • powdered sugar (instead of granulated sugar)
  • vanilla extract

Earn $5 when you spend $20 on select Dannon, Silk, So Delicious Dairy Free, and Wallaby Yogurts from 1/3-1/30.

Other Smart Substitutions

Using plain yogurt instead of another dairy ingredient is already a smart substitution. Yogurt can add less fat and calories to recipes.

But, are there other substitutions you can make to this recipe? Sure! Instead of butter, you can easily substitute 2 tablespoons of oil.

If you want a more fun flavor to your pancakes, use an extract other than vanilla. We’ve tried almond and butter extract, and both were delicious!

Can I make this a different way?

We’re big fans of making pancakes on a griddle. But, you can always make them in a cast iron skillet, or nonstick pan.

Use whatever you have on hand! Yogurt pancakes are very versatile, which makes them a great recipe for anyone to enjoy.

I use a combination of milk and yogurt as a substitute for buttermilk in pancake and waffle recipes. It’s easier than remembering to keep buttermilk on hand in addition to the milk and plain yogurt I always have around.

My go-to pancake topping is real Ohio maple syrup. Not pancake syrup. Not Vermont maple syrup. Ohio maple syrup from a friend who makes it locally.

Sliced bananas and maple syrup! This was my go-to pregnancy craving. In fact, I wanted it so frequently from one specific place, our local diner owner recognized my husband’s voice, and would just ask if I wanted my usual craving! 😊

We like good old maple syrup on our pancakes, but sometimes we get fancy and make a batch of cinnamon apples and have those on top.

I’ll have to try this yogurt substitution. Sometimes I have extra yogurt and I don’t know what to do with it.
